Siena Tavern is Hiring a Sous Chef Near Chicago, IL

Siena Tavern is seeking a Sous Chef. Sous Chefs must be able to motivate and inspire Back of House employees and make sure they deliver our amazing food to each guest in a timely manner. Applicants must be able to work with a highly functioning kitchen crew that can deliver. They must have good advance planning, great utilization, thoughtful maintenance of the work environment, and a can-do attitude while maintaining a great relationship with the FOH guests. This position requires someone with time-management, communication, planning and delegation skills who has experience in a high-volume setting. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures the skillful execution of all menu items - honoring the classics, alongside creative daily and seasonal dishes;Develops enticing and regionally influenced menu specials
  • Oversees the ordering, preparation & storage of great products
  • Develops, coaches, and retains a great staff; Creates an informed environment that promotes individual and team success and growth
  • Maintains a professional, creative, fun and safe work environment
  • Ensures the restaurant meets a responsible food & labor budget that delivers on quality, while honoring the bottom line, 
  • Ensures adherence to local Health Department's regulations; Earns excellent performance on inspections. 

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience.
  • Passion for quality and respect for the customer.
  • Experience using POS systems.
  • Must be able to comfortably be on feet majority of the day and lift 40 pounds.
  • Computer proficient, able to use MS Word and Excel.
  • All local food handler permits must be current.
  • Resume and cover letter required for application
