Restore Education is Hiring a Controller Near San Antonio, TX
Position Description: POSITION GOALS
The Controller will work closely with Restore Educations management to direct and administer agency fiscal operations, financial systems and reporting, and budgeting and forecasting. This position is full-time, exempt and reports to the President / CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education and Experience
Bachelors degree and at least 5-8 years of demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, preferably in the nonprofit sector. MA in Accounting, or MA/MBA in Management or Finance preferred; CPA preferred.
Proficient with Financial Edge or other advanced accounting software and Advanced Excel skills.
Proven record of delivering on generally accepted accounting principles and practices, particularly nonprofit revenue recognition rules.
Experience with grant fiscal management.
Proof of producing clean audits in prior positions.
Demonstrated resourcefulness in implementing efficient financial systems.
Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check, employment background check, driver license clearance (if applicable to position) and urinalysis drug screen.
B. Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Must be able to manage sensitive information and maintain high confidentiality.
Ability to present an image of confidence and professionalism in appearance and attitude.
Ability to organize work, set priorities, coordinate workload, handle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
Ability to deal with diverse situations and people and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and those contacted in the course of work.
Willingness to learn new things and eagerness to acquire new skills.
C. Responsibilities
Maintains and enforces the Administrative Policy & Procedures, which includes internal controls.
Oversee the operations of the business operations department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
Ensure that the companys daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
Prepare and manage annual budget, grant budgets, and allocations.
Prepare monthly financial and grant reports.
Administrator of accounting software; including analyzing and verifying financial records, general ledger, account reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, inventory, purchasing, journal entries, allocations, and monthly accruals.
Team lead for annual audit and internal controls operations.
Process monthly closing by reviewing all necessary data bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and other reconciliations as needed.
Oversee processing of Payroll, ensuring accurate allocations by department, maintain payroll files and reports. Payroll is maintained and processed by a 3rd party PEO.
Prepare and invoice multiple funding agencies monthly to ensure drawdown and/or reimbursements of grants. Report on status of drawdowns and balances for the organization as needed.
Review coding and allocation of vendor invoices and vendor payments.
Prepare timely and detailed financial reports for management and the board.
Contribute at a leadership level to the overall health and success of the organization.
Work cross-departmentally to ensure effective integration and reconciliation of financial information.
Supervise Business Operations Team including Accountant, Business coordinator, IT/facilities.
Other duties and special projects as assigned by the President / CEO.
SCHEDULE: Mon-Fri 8:30am-5:30pm or Mon-Thurs from 9am-6pm and Friday from 9am-2pm. Minimum expected hours 40 hours per week. (Some Evenings and Saturdays might be required)
COMPENSATION RANGE: $75,000-95,000 and dependent on experience and education.
BENEFITS: 100% employer-covered health, vision, and dental and employer-covered life, plus affordable auxiliary plans, and generous PTO policy.
- This position is grant funded. Although the grant is expected to end, additional funding might be obtained to extend grant beyond the end date. If that would occur, your employment under the grant might be extended. However, all employment is considered to be at will and may be terminated by you or the agency at any time regardless of the end date of the grant.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
Must possess a valid Class C Texas Drivers License or obtain a valid Class C Texas Drivers License within thirty (30) days after becoming a resident of the State of Texas.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical requirements include visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, bending, twisting, and walking to perform the essential functions.
