Job Summary:
The Controller is responsible for ensuring an effective internal control environment, accurate and timely financial reports, and analysis, safeguarding the company’s assets, and directing the accounting staff. Additionally, the Controller has responsibility for maintaining the company's financial policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with external auditors, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports for executive management and stakeholders. This position is the senior member of the finance team, providing leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage the staff, systems, and processes for the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all aspects of accounting: revenue, inventory, payroll, accounts payable, cash management, tax compliance, and consolidation reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, account reconciliations, and supervisory review of key transactions.
- Prepare financial statements, consolidation reports, and reporting packages as required.
- Manage annual audits, and work with external auditors to prepare audit schedules, statements, and tax returns.
- Develop and enhance business and operating financial systems and capabilities to support the growth and expansion of the company.
- Assess, review, implement and test internal controls and ensure a robust internal control environment.
- Training and development of staff.
- Work closely with management to develop key financial metrics and analysis to help monitor and assist plant operations.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include training; planning, assigning, and directing work; assisting management with the establishment and maintenance of work instructions, process procedures, and standards for processing functions; appraising performance; rewarding employees; developing standards for operational activities; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:
- Four-year Accounting degree from a college or university; and five years experience as a staff accountant; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with MAS500 accounting/Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) type environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience in steel processing or automotive environment preferable though not required.
- Have GAAP & IFRS understanding.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as quality manuals, operational procedures, and work instructions.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply basic and advanced accounting and financial concepts
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to interpret computer programs and spreadsheets.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to use various personal computer software (Microsoft Office, etc.).
- Ability to use a ten-key calculator, perform data entry, and use various personal computer software (Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel).
- Ability to use small business accounting systems such as Peachtree Accounting and ability to function in an ERP-type environment such as MAS500, SAP, Oracle Financials, or any such system.
- Having Crystal Reports experience would be a benefit.
Social Environment:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Must be able to handle stressful situations and work well with team members.
- Overtime and high-stress level may be necessary, especially during the closing time period.
