RES is the nation’s largest ecological restoration company and a preeminent environmental mitigation bank developer. The Company follows a design/build, maintain, sustain, and steward approach and has the internal capabilities to lead a bank through each stage in the asset’s lifecycle. Environmental mitigation is a core competency at RES and the Company has structured a centralized corporate group (Bank Hub) to lead RES’ continued investment in the banking space.

One of the Hub’s core functions is directing investment through underwriting that is supported by supply and demand analysis. The Hub’s Investments and Capital Allocation team is looking to hire a Data Analyst to stand up and execute the team’s data extraction/management/analytics processes. The Data Analyst will report to the Head of Investments and Capital Allocation and will be responsible for all data-related activities that support mitigation bank investment decisions. The position will be based out of our headquarters in Houston, TX.

What your day-to-day might look like?

Main outputs that support the objectives and success of the team that you will be delivering:

• Data handling - identify, extract, and clean data from disparate sources (internal and external; public and private).
• Market intelligence - build, maintain, and update the Company’s database of mitigation banking supply and demand factors
• Analysis for investment decisions - execute data analysis to help inform investment decisions
• Reports and presentations - generate reports and presentations on data-driven insights

• Strong data optimization and automation skills - ability to collect and analyze data across disparate sources is critical.
• Strong communication skills (written and oral) - collaboration across various functional groups within the Company is critical, and you will be conveying data in non-technical terms to diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and to break down complex problems into actionable solutions. This role is new to the Company and a black-and-white playbook for this role does not exist.
• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
• Driven by best practices for data acquisition, management, and analytics. You will be a crucial part of the transformation in processes from manual data acquisition and analytics to scaled and streamlined data acquisition accompanied by investment-oriented data analytics.
• Keen interest in environmental markets.

What your day to day might look like?

• Scrape, extract, clean, structure, and manipulate data across various public and private sources
• Obtain and leverage existing internal data stored across disparate systems and structures
• Analyze and synthesize data to identify and communicate patterns, trends, correlations, etc.
• Identify new sources of data and build solutions to extract data and integrate into Company database
• Build forward-looking data-driven scenario analyses
• Create reports summarizing results of data analysis for review by senior team members
• Collaborate with key stakeholders across functions within the Company to run data-driven analytics initiatives aimed at proving/disproving hypotheses
• Collaborate with regional operations/teams across various functions within the Company to identify and obtain data-driven supporting evidence for local insights
• Work with Investments and Capital Allocation Team to integrate data-driven market insights with investment underwriting of specific markets and/or assets
• Play key role in building data-driven presentations for C-Suite Executives and Board of Directors

Qualifications

Previous experience that will support your application:

• 3 years-experience in data acquisition, management, and analytics (extracting, cleaning, structuring, analyzing)
• Experience transitioning an organization from manual data extraction and disparate “warehousing” to automated data extraction, management, and analysis
• Familiarity with data extraction from NetSuite, Salesforce, and other corporate management software applications
