Public Employees Retirement System is Hiring an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER I Near Sacramento, CA

Anticipated Interview Dates: Virtual interviews are anticipated to begin the week of May 27, 2024.
Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

The Software Engineering and Support Section is currently seeking an IT Manager I for the Application Interface Release Support (AIRS) unit. The AIRS unit supports enterprise product teams, provides MyCalPERS application triage, change management, and release validation, is leading the AI First Steps initiative, provides print delivery and workload automation services, workload execution, performance testing, and supports interface partners with file transfer and testing.

Special Requirements

Statement of Qualifications
Please provide a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for the hiring manager’s review. Applications received without an SOQ or those that do not respond to the specific questions below will not be considered.
The SOQ must be typed, titled “Statement of Qualifications”, and each response must be numbered and list all relevant experience, education, and training, including places of employment, dates, and duties performed. The SOQ must not exceed three pages in length, must have 11 point Arial font, and must list the numbered question and then provide an answer.
  • Describe your experience leading a diverse team within a complex IT environment, specifically focusing on overseeing business and technical partnerships across multiple IT groups such as application development, testing, and incident response. Please provide specific examples.
  • Describe a specific instance where you worked closely with core application developers and lead architects to improve complex architecture and programming issues.
  • Describe your role and experience in working with public pension systems and complex multi-tier applications.
  • Describe how you give recognition and ensure your team is engaged with the larger mission of the organization. Provide an example.
Minimum Qualifications
All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) listed on the Classification Specification should be included in your application package to clearly demonstrate how you meet the MQs for this position.
