Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Information Technology (IT) Manager I, the IT Specialist I will assign workloads within the team, act as a resource for technology projects, and provide support for network systems, server hardware, and software activities including server configurations, installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Support the planning, acquisition, and research and evaluation of new technologies for use within the current and/or future operational programs within the framework of the Department of Cannabis Control's (Department) mission and values. Responsibilities may include being on-call outside of regular working hours. The primary domain for this position is System Engineering.

The Department's mission is to develop and implement progressive cannabis policies and license and regulate commercial cannabis activity in a way that best protects public health, safety, the environment, and local communities throughout the State of California.

Special Requirements
  • The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
Travel - The incumbent is required to travel throughout an assigned geographical area by various methods of transportation.
Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Employer Pull Notice Program (EPN) - The incumbent shall participate in DMV's EPN, which is a process for providing the Department with a report showing the driver's current public record as recorded by the DMV, and any subsequent convictions, failures to appear, accidents, driver's license suspensions, driver's license revocations, or any other actions taken against the driving privilege or license, added to the driver's DMV record.
