The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Hourly Wage: $14.05

Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

General Description

Performs entry level to routine habilitative torehabilitative care work with individuals who have developmental disabilities.Work involves implementing treatment programs and performing therapeutic ordevelopmental activities. Works under moderate supervision, with limitedlatitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Ensures thatconsumers are protected from harm or injury reports consumer behavior andprogress; develops vocational, therapeutic or development programs. Observes,supervises, interacts with consumers to assist in the achievement of individualizedgoals. Teaches/trains consumers. All phases of vocational training/ custodialmaintenance work are completed according to the custodial maintenance work Maytrain or supervise others.

Minimum Qualifications

High SchoolDiploma or GED. Skill in operation of computers and applicable computersoftware. Ability to provide care, training, and supervision to Individualswith Disabilities. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing tocommunicate and to work a flexible schedule. Must always have reliabletransportation with a valid Texas Driver's License, liability insurance with agood driving record (less than 3 points). May use personal vehicle to conductbusiness. Prefer: One year experience supervising, training, or trainingindividuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. English andSpanish, bilingual.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge ofhabilitative and rehabilitative programs for individuals with developmentaldisabilities.
• Knowledge of client support techniques. 
• Ability to provide clientsupport. Ability to successfully complete CPR, First-Aid and agency sponsoredtraining. 
• Skill in the use of a computer and applicable software.
• In the course of beingemployed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices.
