What you’ll be doing:
  • Demonstrate high level or professionalism and leadership through effective communication, organization, attention to detail, and keen awareness of the priorities and immediate needs of the team.
  • Set an example for leading by listening for understanding and mining for truth. Create calm out of chaos and have the ability to assign the right level or priority to a situation or complaint.
  • Be proactive in leveraging feedback and data to understand team member satisfaction, identify and recommend initiatives that drive continued and increased satisfaction, and align with Brand priorities. (I would consider taking this one out because I think it lends a little having influence the brand of operations)
  • Act as an advisor and a mentor for operations team, teach thought process behind quality decision making to mitigate risk.
  • Be available to work at critical and impactful moments when urgent employee/client needs arise.
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
  • Partner with the Operations Leadership team to support the development of happy and healthy team members.
  • Provide support, perform investigations, and act as an advisor to operations leadership about best practices in Employee Relations.
  • Build strong relationships that reinforce HR as a key support mechanism and a resource for step-change improvements across the organization.
  • Advise Operations team on best practices in employee counseling, discipline and termination.
  • Act as a coach and mediator on employee relations challenges. Bring an objective, mature, and professional approach to listening and resolution. Work to determine root cause and apply systematic approach to resolving the issue based on Core Values.
RECRUITING & ONBOARDING
  • Manage the recruiting and onboarding process including sourcing, managing the interview process, and hiring & onboarding in our ATS (People Matter) and Payroll System (ProLiant).
  • Develop and Execute on-going training/development in topics like discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation training with all staff members. Design and track topic-specific trainings for Operations as requested.
SYSTEMS & PROCESSES
  • Manage business insurance and claims with efficiency, urgency, and a high level of task related competency
  • Administer health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Process required documents through payroll and insurance to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions.
  • Process, respond, and track all unemployment claims. This includes fact finding and hearings.
  • Process all employment related claims filed with EEOC, OSHA, Work Comp, etc. Act as in-house liaison for outside counsel when needed.
  • Complete all required Human Resources reporting and ensure compliance with federal and state laws
COMPLIANCE
  • Maintain up-to date knowledge of (but not limited to) the following topics: Immigration, Individual State laws, Federal laws, E-Verify, Fair Labor Standard Act, Minimum Wage, Overtime, Equal Pay, General Human Resource Practices (Federal and State specific), Documentation (I-9, W-4, etc.)
  • Maintain standards for in-restaurant communication tools including PTO tracking, sick pay, certification compliance, inspection compliance, record keeping etc.
What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of Human Resources experience.
  • PHR Certification (Preferred)
  • Experience with multi-unit management
  • Experience with compliance regulation
  • Experience with benefit administration
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, process implementation and logical reasoning skills
  • Able to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to live in the detail while simultaneously managing the big picture.
  • Highly effective in collaboration, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a positive and productive environment.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration, effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with all employees including management and outside vendors.
  • Strong follow through, attention to detail and a focus on compliance.
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
