DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Manage food and supply inventory on a weekly basis
purchase food and supplies as needed and within given budget
arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
perform administrative duties that pertain to the Chef’s duties
Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
prepare healthy and balanced meals for clients
ensure that meals are served on time
must be a role model at all times
ensure resident/participant, staff, volunteer, and vendor safety is adhered to at all times
must dress appropriately with a collared shirt, nice pants or shorts, and hair must be neat with a clean-shaven face or trimmed beard/mustache (if applicable)
responsible for the cleanliness of assigned property inside and out.
adhere to all Joint Commission and DHCS Policy and Procedures that involve food preparation and storage.
accommodate client food allergies
Prepare and present daily, weekly and monthly menus
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalency test
familiarity with the twelve-step program of recovery, and if in recovery.
a minimum two-year continuous sobriety with strong interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge of standard practices, procedures, and equipment required in food preparation and handling as well as knowledge of the state health codes.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Current Adult CPR certification
Current Adult First Aid certification
Current Food Handlers Certificate
Valid California Class C Driver’s License and/or California Identification Card
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
There is some walking, bending, and kneeling which may occur with long periods of standing while preparing food; must be able to participate in moderate lifting of 30 or more pounds (food, supplies, suitcases, packages, etc.). This position must be able to support client weight in case of emergency situation or client disability requiring assistance in walking, etc.There is a risk of exposure to bodily fluids infections, contagious / blood borne diseases, and chemicals (cleaning agents); an exposed risk to varying, unpredictable situations exists (i.e. client behavior).
