PRIMARY FUNCTION:Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist for our Finance team at our Headquarters office in Springfield, VA. The A/P Specialist is responsible for a variety of complex accounting duties, including assisting with trial balances, analyzing financial documents, investigating questionable data, and preparing reports.

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review invoices and check requests for approval, proper support documentation, and account classification.
• Enter invoices, credit memos, account re-classes, and manual checks into the Accounts Payables module of an accounting software system.
• Proof voucher information entered the accounting software system and made corrections as needed.
• Ensure payments are in accordance with approved contracts and purchase orders.
• Enter wire transfer information in the online banking system.
• Review various AP Reports for accuracy before issuing checks.
• Issue checks and prepare them for signature and distribution.
• Post cash disbursement journals and reconcile the sub-ledger to the general ledger.
• Research and resolve invoice and payment issues as requested by the Supervisor.
• Interact with internal departments and external vendors to resolve questions/issues.
• Audit employee expense reports for compliance and appropriate documentation and process for reimbursement.
• Reconcile statements and research outstanding balances with vendors.
• Prepare monthly AP Aging analysis and enter correcting entries as needed.
• Prepare and file the 1099’s with the IRS and recipients annually.
• Other duties as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES:

• The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Working knowledge of accounting software such as Deltek CostPoint
• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of four years’ experience in accounts payable preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office such as Excel, Word, Outlook
• Time and organizational management skills to prioritize multiple tasks
• Must be able to work under pressure with grace and provide quick turnaround against tight deadlines
• Candidate must have a confident demeanor and excellent rapport when interacting with all levels of staff.
• Team player with the Ability to diagnose and remedy problems quickly is essential.
• Detail and quality-oriented with strong initiative/drive
