PRIMARY FUNCTION: Operate channel automation equipment in both automated and live/manual situations for multiple channels. Operate ingest equipment for short and long term storage and use for all networks. Duties include video and audio ingest from various transmission sources, shows from multiple sources, Quality Control video from remotes, monitor and execution of Master Control elements such as squeezebacks, and crawls.

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties and responsibilities noted below are considered to be the essential functions of the job.

• Aggressive monitoring of network transmissions for quality control.
• Operates Media Asset Management system to record various feeds from field reporters or content from domestic and overseas bureaus to include proper metadata tagging and identification.
• Ability to resolve 1st line technical issues during times of critical need and perform disaster recovery procedures as needed.
• Revises edits or appends the daily playlist and/or log changes for air as instructed by either the editorial team or the traffic department.
• Proficiency in operating and evaluating technical equipment such as signal routers, waveform monitors, vector scopes and video/audio equalization equipment.
• Strong understanding of common broadcast signal issues and how to resolve them in a timely manner.
• Monitors and records incoming broadcast elements received via various forms of transmission.
• Ability to transform and adapt to changing environments with respect to live and breaking news.
• Ability to perform detailed pre show and event FAX checks prior to live show transmission.
• Completion of shift and incident reports and issuance of trouble tickets if necessary detailing events surrounding programming activity during your assigned shifts.
• Ability to respond effectively and quickly with user requests and issues.

• The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities dictated by events, circumstances, and operational requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Four year degree in television or related field. Equivalent education, experience and/or training will be considered in lieu of degree – including live broadcast news control room, master control, feeds, and ingest experience.
• Proven experience with operation of digital storage technologies and transmission protocols.
• Arabic language skills and cultural knowledge is desirable.
