• Strong supplier relationships that maintain honesty and trust on both sides.

• Maximized inventory turns by streamlining, reducing, and / or eliminating non-value-added inventory
• New product offerings are brought to market efficiently and effectively

Key Activities

• Optimize inventory levels to minimize costs by managing inventory carrying costs, bulk purchase discounts, and lead times.
• Provide procurement plans to meet forecasting and inventory requirements.
• Verify material requirements are being met while maintaining proper inventory levels
• Maintain solid communication channels with customer service and sales
• Determine equitable order quantities utilizing sales history and forecast data
• Process purchase order receipts and warehouse transfers as needed.
• Expedite / defer deliveries, as necessary, to support operational / cost objectives.
• Obtain competitive quotations and select suppliers based on quality, cost, lead-time, service, and financial stability.
• Identify potential new sources of supply and initiate supplier qualification activities.
• Respond to production issues and adjust purchasing schedule as required; communicate any major variations to affected parties (sales, customer service, etc.)
• Primary interface for internal stake holders on day-to-day supply chain issues, concerns, and questions.
• Participate in scheduled Procurement Group meetings and one on ones.
• Develop, nurture, and facilitate new and existing relationships with all Suppliers
• Issue purchase orders ensuring costs, quantities, and packaging are correct and order confirmations received.
• Ensure proper documents are received from supplier and distributed accordingly.
• Arrange freight for inbound shipments as needed per shipping terms with supplier
• Coordinate with freight forwarders and carriers to ensure efficient transit of imported goods.
• Keep purchase orders updated in computer system especially delivery dates.
• Additional duties, as required by management.

Desired Skills and Experience :

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Logistics, Supply Chain. or related disciplines or commensurate experience in Supply Chain / Purchasing
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, required.
• Experienced working with Microsoft Office : Word, Outlook.
• 3 plus years in buying, planning, and inventory management preferred.
• Good inter-personal skills someone who thrives in a collaborative work environment.
• Experience working in the chemical industry a plus!
