LHH is Hiring a Senior Human Resources Manager Near Chicago, IL

Our Chicago based client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Human Resources professional to join their non-for profit organization in full-time/hybrid capacity within a dynamic and impactful organization who are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and communities, striving for positive social change.

The right person for this role will be fluently bi-lingual Spanish and English and play a vital role in shaping the organization's culture, developing their workforce, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead the HR function in a nonprofit setting, contributing to culturally diverse driven work.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Collaborates with the COO to develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall mission and goals of the organization.
  • Oversees all aspects of HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, employee relations, and compensation.
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, leave; disciplinary matters; investigations; performance and talent management and employee recognition.
  • Partners with senior leadership to identify workforce needs and develop strategies for talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning.
  • Ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations and maintains up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices.
  • Administers and oversees benefits including annual re-evaluation of policies, claims resolution, enrollment processing and the approving of invoices for payment.
  • Manages the development and implementation of technical solutions and other modifications to enhance HR systems’ functionality.
  • Coaches and counsel managers and provide the tools to support them in their role as leaders and managers.
  • Oversees complex investigations, audits, and analyses as needed; and recommend solutions.
  • Conducts exit interviews, makes recommendations for improvements, and reports findings and trends.
  • Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes employee engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Manages HR systems and processes, including payroll and benefits administration and learning developing systems.
  • Leads and mentors the HR team, promoting professional growth and development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred but not required.
  • 8 years of progressive HR experience, including 3 years in leadership roles; nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of HR principles, practices, and local, state and federal employment laws.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing HR strategies that support organizational goals.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a collaborative and inclusive approach.
  • Prior experience working in both a union and non-union environment.
  • Knowledge of human resources and payroll systems; spreadsheet software, etc.
  • Must be able to read, speak and write Spanish fluently.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of safety systems and OSHA regulations.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, vehicle and insurance and must be able to travel occasionally to various company locations as needed.
