Description
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing all HR activities. This includes acting as a liaison between the business and employees, ensuring that HR policies, procedures, laws, and state and federal regulations are adhered to. The HR Manager builds trust with employees and managers and gains insight into the critical challenges facing the business and works collaboratively with business leaders to enhance employee engagement, improve employee retention, and reduce turnover.
Duties of Position:
  • Provides counsel to employees and all levels of management on employee relations issues ensuring legal compliance with policy and laws.
  • Supports Managers, Employees, and direct reports with the interpretation and application of HRI policies.
  • Provides expert HR advice, consultation and conflict resolution to employees and management on performance management, termination process, and policy interpretation.
  • Effectively manages and resolves complex employee relations issues; conducts thorough and objective investigations and provides guidance for successful resolution.
  • Oversees employee onboarding and orientation programs.
  • Engages Management in actively managing and developing future talent.
  • Creates and recommends new approaches, programs, and policies that positively affect the selection and retention of high-performance teams.
  • Manages and coordinates semi-annual performance reviews, ensuring successful planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee performance.
  • Manages the recruitment and selection process, activities, and efforts for all exempt and nonexempt positions.
  • Responsible for planning and implementing recruiting strategies to ensure a continuous pipeline of quality candidates and to ensure that the staffing needs are met.
  • Drives best practices throughout the organization.
  • Manages unemployment compensation claims.
  • Manages the activities and implementation of Human Resources strategies, systems, programs and policies.
  • Nurtures a positive working environment by promoting open communication and resolving conflicts promptly.
  • Partners with the SVP of HR to determine appropriate compensation offers for candidates per established compensation practices and procedures.
  • Assists with preparing occupational classifications, job descriptions, and salary scales.
  • Partners with SVP and business leaders to develop job descriptions and scorecards and to determine appropriate compensation levels.
  • Analyzes surveys to ensure appropriate compensation across all departments.
  • Assists with coordinating bonus & merit increase processes
  • Oversees the required record-keeping and data maintenance in compliance with state and federal law.
  • Monitors and evaluates diversity statistics and makes recommendations for action as appropriate.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of human resource emerging trends, best practices, and technological advancement. Remains apprised of changes to state and federal law governing all areas of the Human Resources function
  • Monitors compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, unemployment compensation, and any other employment-related requirements.
  • Performs or assists with necessary Human Resource related audits for specific locations.
  • Monitors the administration of HRI's policies.
  • Manages the administration of benefits programs, open enrollment, and post-open enrollment audits.
  • Conducts benefit enrollment meetings and works proactively with the broker to resolve benefit-related questions.
  • Partners with the Management team to implement training and development programs.
  • Conducts regulatory and management training sessions.
  • Identifies training needs and/or gaps and makes recommendations.
  • Manages administration of drug testing program, pre-employment, reasonable cause, post-accident and random testing.
  • Assists with worker's compensation claims and activities.
  • Manages the administration of the leave of absence process.
  • Assists with the resolution of payroll questions and discrepancies.
  • Supports succession planning initiatives and corresponding action step
  • Actively engages in communications with HR team members around best practices and identifies opportunities to create consistency where necessary.
  • Assists with the preparation of the departmental budget.
  • Manages and directs the work of assigned HR professionals and ensures operational requirements by following up on work results. Responsibilities include hiring, training, skill development, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining; and addressing and resolving complaints.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of HR functions and procedures.
  • Manages all HR activities and supports HR policies and procedures to assist in the successful implementation of HR processes and procedures within the different locations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive Human Resources experience with at least 3 years of Human Resources Management experience.
  • Broad HR Generalist knowledge with heavy experience in employee relations, recruitment, benefits, and compensation.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees and management
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Must be able to travel locally and domestically as required
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
  • Experience overseeing talent acquisition strategies and using creative sourcing mechanisms such as the utilization of social media and internet based sourcing tools.
  • Working knowledge of Paylocity is a plus.
  • Certification - PHR or SPHR
