MedBridge Development is Hiring a Director of Clinical Services Near San Francisco, CA

MedBridge is a growing surgery center development company providing financial and management services to its clients. MedBridge believes in providing the highest quality of service, excellent employee benefits, and a team-oriented work environment.

Position Summary

The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for directing, coordinating, and controlling the multi-disciplinary activities required to provide a safe environment for patients at our Northern California facilities. The Director of Clinical Services reports to the Vice President of Client Services.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Manages Facility Operations
  • Determines and accomplishes objectives in accordance with each of the facility’s objectives
  • Assists with the management of all clinical and operational aspects of multiple facilities in Northern California
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures
  • In conjunction with surgery center leadership, responsible for overseeing and ensuring necessary facility credentials (such as Medicare and other accreditation organizations)
  • Provides a channel of communication between staff, surgeons, and other healthcare providers in each center.
  • Assists with determining needs for facilities, supplies, and equipment
  • Recommends and substantiates requests for purchase
  • Negotiates with vendors or uses resources to acquire or borrow equipment for additional specialties, new projects, or facility needs under rapid timelines
  • Assesses quality of nursing care by regular review of audit results and chart documentation and supervision of each center’s Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Process
  • Oversight of each center’s Infection Control Program and supervision of each center’s Infection Control Nurse
  1. Oversight of Directors of Nursing (DONs)
  • Direct supervisor to center managers in Northern California facilities
  • Supervises and oversees center manager in:
  • Direction of patient care
  • Supervision of key personnel in each location, directs and assists as necessary
  • Ensuring care of patients through proper identification, checking of charts, and reporting of changes in condition
  • Discussing treatment of selected patients with nursing staff members and DON
  • Overseeing and directing all drug utilization, control, and accountability per policies
  • Assessing needs for instrumentation, supplies, equipment, and pharmaceutical requirements of surgical procedures
  • Assuming the responsibility for assurance of patient safety during the state of enforced dependency created preoperatively, intra-operatively, postoperatively
  1. Employee Relations
  • Directs surgery center staff through regular group meetings, team building, and coaching on a one-on-one basis
  • Coordinates the employment of qualified personnel within budgetary guidelines
  • May recommend promotions and salary increases or suspension/termination
  • When necessary, trains surgery center employees on procedures, methods, techniques and safety precautions
  • Determines educational needs of staff and provides appropriate resources for meeting educational needs
  1. Nursing Duties
  • Must be able to work as RN in Pre-Op, OR Circulator, and PACU capacity as needed
  • Provides assistance to surgeons and anesthetists occasionally as needed
  • May be expected to lift twenty-five pounds without assistance
  • May be required to push patients in wheelchairs or gurneys
  1. Creates a safe, therapeutic, environment in which the patients’ psychological, physiological, and physical needs are identified, anticipated, and met at our facilities
  2. Must file an incident report for any unusual event that occurs to a patient or member of staff; this would include, but not limited to, falls, needle stick injuries, aspiration of gastric contents, allergic reactions, and disruptive behavior by staff or patients Also required to report any incidence or alleged incidences of abuse, harassment, or injury to self, other employees, or patients occurring at the facility or relating to the facilities
  3. Travel between Northern California facilities to ensure the outcomes listed above
  4. Travel to any developing projects regardless of location to assist new facilities with their opening phase including accreditation prep and accreditation survey as well as assistance through their first few months of operation with cases
  5. Perform other duties as assigned

Skills Required

  • Possesses knowledge of ambulatory surgery centers
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing
  • Current RN (Registered Nurse) licensure in the State of California
  • A BSN with five years of experience in perioperative/surgical nursing is preferred
  • Current certification in BLS.
  • ACLS and PALS certification may be required.
  • Self-starter who can multitask and manage a number of relationships and deadlines simultaneously
  • Adept at problem-solving and fostering solid working and team relationships
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills in working with physicians, staff, vendors, and the broader community
  • Full command of the English language, both verbal and written
