Title: Clinical Director for Residential Programs
Reports to: Deputy Director of Residential Programs
Location: Across STP Housing sites in SF
Work schedule: M-F 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Salary: $125,000 - $135,000
Summary: With the direction and support of the Deputy Director of Residential Programs and Director of Property Management, the Clinical Director for Residential Programs is responsible for oversight of the clinical aspects of Swords to Plowshares’ residential programs. Duties of this position include clinical supervision of residential programs clinical staff, assuring the proper functioning of the program, and the safety and well-being of the program participants. These programs serve veterans with disabilities experiencing and exiting homelessness. Duties of this position include supervision of staff, oversight of clinical programs, quality review, and the safety and well-being of veterans living in Swords to Plowshares properties. Programs include the following:
Swords to Plowshares houses over 500 veterans across 6 housing sites. At our sites, we offer a range of services including low-barrier and low-demand stabilization housing beds, Safe Haven, in addition to supportive services for veterans in permanent housing. The Transitional housing and contract program focuses on securing permanent housing while addressing substance abuse, mental health and other barriers that could impact a veteran's ability to live independently. Supportive Services in permanent settings focus on providing clinical support and case management for veterans who have secured permanent supportive housing emphasizing housing retention. We also operate the Veteran Support to Self-Reliance pilot program across all our permanent sites: this pilot program offers enhanced services to veterans who are aging and live with a disabling condition.
Roles and Responsibilities
The clinical function includes: direct supervision of counseling staff, case conference facilitation, oversight of treatment planning, oversight of staff charting and documentation, staff training, client assessment and referral, assignment of client caseloads, crisis intervention, census management, liaison to referring clinicians, and acting as clinical resource to staff of agency housing sites. The coordination of treatment with other providers, especially the VA, and the liaison work that is required, are also essential responsibilities. This involves supporting staff in their communication with VA staff.
As a member of the agency director-level staff, provides input to other directors on matters of expertise and experience. Provides input to Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director on clinical issues impacting veteran clients and residents.
