TITLE: Director of Crisis Services
ACCOUNTABILITY: Director of Clinical Services FLSA: Salaried - Exempt
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision and direction of the Director of Clinical Services, the Director of Crisis Services (DCS) has responsibility for the administrative, clinical, and programmatic operations of the agency’s treatment programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The DCS is responsible for ensuring that all San Francisco programs are in compliance with the policies and procedures of Progress Foundation, the City and County of San Francisco Department of Public Health, and with the regulations of the State Department of Mental Health and the State Department of Social Services.
- As a member of the Progress Foundation senior management team, participate in the development and implementation, of policies and procedures affecting the operation and direction of the agency; write agency policy statements and procedures as necessary.
- Make appropriate recommendation for improvement on existing clinical practices, policies and procedures.
- Plan and oversee clinical program initiatives and in collaboration with the Executive Director participate in program development and administration as a part of ensuring integrity and success of clinical programs and services.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate quality management and utilization reviews.
- This position will also partner with the Executive Director, and at the senior management team level, initiate discussion regarding, and propose specific action to improve, the quality of program services, the relevance of services to emerging client needs, and the strength of agency administrative practices.
- Oversee quality improvement activities including preparing and analysis of reports and program data and in conjunction with the Executive Director, provide direction, supervision, monitor performance and evaluate performance, and take corrective action when needed for all program directors.
- Be a presence in the programs to provide direction, supervision, and support to leadership staff, to assure and promote the philosophy and practice of social rehabilitation.
- Coordinate with peers in developing and maintaining an intentional learning environment that reflects the full depth and breadth of social rehabilitation principles and practices.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Master’s degree in a mental health related field.
- At least five years of experience in a community mental health program with a minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
- Experience may be substituted for the degree requirement, depending of the nature and length of experience.
- Specific experience in residential treatment services, alternatives to institutional care, and/or social rehabilitation programs is required.
- Excellent communication and writing skills with strong attention to details.
- Ability to work independently and to exercise sound clinical and administrative judgment, with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated experience with, and sensitivity to, the needs and circumstances of persons with severe and persistent mental illness. This should include direct service experience with a culturally diverse client population.
- Demonstrated skill in administrative performance including documentation requirements and service coordination.
- Must maintain criminal record clearance with Community Care Licensing.
- Intermediate computer skills; maintain computer requirements of the City and County of San Francisco Community Behavioral Health Services.
