Makerspace NYC, the largest and most well equipped makerspace and studios in the city, located at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, is seeking a Workforce Development Manager. This is a full time position with flexible hybrid in-person and work from home hours to be determined before employment offer. In-person work is primarily at our Brooklyn Army Terminal location in Sunset Park but applicant must have the ability to travel to employer partner sites and to our Staten Island location as needed. Salary is $65,000 per year.
Job Description
The Workforce Development Manager is responsible for managing manufacturing training programs for adults. This includes managing our Apprentice NYC training program. Apprentice NYC helps adult New Yorkers develop in-demand skills in manufacturing. After completing a four-week pre-apprentice training program, participants will begin twelve weeks of in-person training at our Brooklyn facility, after which they will be matched with a future employer for further on-the-job training. For 44 weeks after, Cohort participants will visit the makerspace once a month onsite, to ensure a smooth transition into the workforce.
Workforce Development Manager will directly report to our Executive Director, functioning as the first point of contact for all instructors, cohort participants, employer partners, social services and recruitment partners. During the full time training phases of Apprentice NYC the Workforce Development Manager will focus on that program, but in between cohorts, you will work closely with executive management to help develop other similar programs including a welding training program.
