Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 160 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 65,000 individuals and families each year at our 90 locations, including 10,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

CAMBA’s comprehensive Workforce Development and Refugee Services Programs: Since our founding CAMBA has connected over 25,000 New Yorkers to full time jobs. Our workforce development initiatives grew out of our commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive New York City. Driven by racial and economic equality, we provide opportunities for the most economically and socially vulnerable to thrive. We work with a vast diversity of job seekers, and specialize in assisting those with special barriers to employment including refugees, political asylees, immigrant professionals, young adults, victims of human trafficking and others, from over fifty countries of origin, who are striving to connect to career paths. We take a strength based approach to career development, matching participants to specific bridge trainings which allow them to benefit from the job opportunities we develop with our employer partners. Among other areas of specialization, we have expertise in matching STEM skilled immigrant professionals to engineering sector and IT jobs locally. These award winning programs are performance-based, and success is measured by meeting engagement, employment placement, training, and retention goals.

Position: Job Developer

Reports To: Program Manager, Workforce Development

Location: 2244 Church Ave Brooklyn NY 11226

What the Job Developer Does:

The person filling this position is expected to develop and maintain employer relationships with the goal of identifying and meeting their HR needs. Match appropriate clients with appropriate job openings and arrange for interviews and persuade both prospective employers and client applicants of the features and advantages of CAMBA’s job placement services, with the goal of placement and a view toward long-term retention; including the following:

  • Research and keep up to date on labor market information, economic data and hiring trends to creatively target and develop emerging opportunities.
  • Develop a deep understanding of employers’ needs, challenges and hiring preferences.
  • Provide client support in tailoring resumes and cover letters, coaching for in demand adaptive soft skills acquisition, conducting mock interviews, and assisting with job applications.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and conduct group job prep to job seekers to increase their chances of employment.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate, complete narrative documentation of client progress and employer relationships, at each point of contact, including resumes, interviews and employer feedback, and placement and retention data for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports, in computerized client and employer tracking systems.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of career advisors and instructors with the common goal of successfully advancing participants to employment.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and two years of applicable experience or Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) and/or equivalent experience

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to bring an enthusiasm for sales and a willingness to initiate contact and engage with new employers and corporate partners.
  • Ability to market the program to the community, through in person visits and remote meetings, with the goal of successfully marketing CAMBA’s job seekers and services.
  • Ability and willingness to adapt approach to meet the varied needs of job seekers and employer partners, including in person meetings and the use of Zoom and other online platforms and resources on camera, to accommodate providing services remotely.
  • Ability to multi-task and to work a flexible or alternative workweek schedule if needed, based upon program needs.
  • Existing employer job bank is a plus.
  • Knowledge of industrial sectors including engineering, construction, utilities and/or IT is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with young adults, low income, immigrant, refugee and asylee populations is a plus.
  • Cultural competency is a must, bilingual or multilingual is a plus.

Compensation: - $48,000-$55,000 annually -
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: -Full-time (35 hours per week)-
