Loring Consulting Engineers is Hiring a Human Resources Generalist Near New York, NY

Role and Responsibilities

The Human Resources Generalist position will work closely with the Vice President of Human Resources and is responsible for the performing human resources tasks in the following functional areas: recruitment/employment, onboarding, HRIS, and benefits administration. Additional projects/ tasks will be assigned to further develop the HR function not limited to the list below.

The main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Prepares source documentation needed for new hires, for effective changes in pay, status, or benefits.
  • Maintains employee records for completeness and accuracy. Inputs and validates employment and personal data into human resources information/computer system (HRIS) database and/or documents activities as requested.
  • Performs HR Compliance file audits to ensure all required employee documentation is collected and updated.
  • Benefits Administration: Processes new hires, changes, terminations, transfers, promotions, benefits, time and attendance.
  • Assists with new-employee orientations, training, and onboarding events.
  • Manages sensitive and confidential matters like personnel relations, employee relations, and organizational changes, planning and protecting the security of information, data, and files.
  • Responds timely and accurately to employee’s requests and/or routes requests to appropriate resource.
  • Provide administrative support to HR employee engagement programs, employee events and other initiatives.
  • Responsible for the full lifecycle recruiting process by developing a targeted sourcing strategy that leverages a variety of tools/resources including Internet/Web, social media, college recruiting, community organizations, agency partnerships, internal and external networking, and other techniques.
  • Identifies, designs, and implements corporate wide recruitment strategies and hiring policies for all positions and creates interview and assessment tools that ensure the identification and selection of talent through an equity lens.
  • Develops strategies to streamline hiring and qualify candidates via screening, interviewing, and participating in the selection of final candidates, including reference checking.
  • Consults with the Vice President of Human Resources and other internal stakeholders on position descriptions, compensation, sourcing strategies.
  • Attends job fairs and school recruiting events.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree, and 5 years of Human Resources experience.
  • Strong full cycle recruiting experience required.
  • Must be knowledgeable/be able to manage all facets of recruiting and be willing to handle the administrative components of HR.
  • Knowledge of Labor Laws and HR Policies and procedures is a MUST.
  • Excellent computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, and experience with HRIS systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to create routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong initiative—the willingness and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.
