Position Summary
The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. Your primary support is as a liaison between a centralized HR function and employees across a highly distributed work environment, ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of inquiries. Ultimately, you help ensure our HR department is organized and works to attract, hire and support our mission-driven workforce.
Primary Responsibilities
Partner with supervisors to maximize organizational effectiveness. Leverage expertise in organization design, team development, talent/workforce planning, change management to maintain a culture that optimizes the passion and potential of our employees.
Interpret and provide guidance to supervisors on matters of the collective bargaining agreement, personnel policies as well as federal, state and local employment laws and regulations. Handle routine labor relations and human resource inquiries related to policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements; refers complex matters to appropriate management staff.
Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
As a subject matter expert, develop and present regular training and presentations to supervisors to enhance their knowledge of HR principles and best practices.
Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
Assist with preparation of documents and records required for contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employee and labor organizations.
Help oversee and facilitate annual Performance Review Process.
Perform Job Analysis and Classification across a mixed union and non-union environment; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for job classifications.
Perform full cycle Leave Administration to include FMLA, CFRA, Workers Comp, ADA, Interactive Process, PDL, and all other leaves available to the workforce under law, contract and/or policy.
Design and Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
Continuous Professional Development: Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
