Immigration Paralegal

Location: New York, NY

Job Type: Full-time

Jia Law Group (JLG) is a full-service boutique law firm headquartered in New York City with branches in California and China. We are seeking to hire a highly motivated paralegal fluent in Chinese Mandarin and English to join our immigration team. This is an excellent opportunity for you to gain firsthand training and experience in immigration practices under the leadership of our attorneys.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Respond to inquiries, conduct consultation with potential clients, and case intake
  • Assist with developing and troubleshooting case strategy
  • Partake in the preparation and drafting of immigration petitions
  • Communicate with clients to relay timely updates on case status
  • Provide accurate translations from Chinese Mandarin to English and vice versa when necessary
  • Oversee case progress through the utilization of case management systems
  • Manage client database hygiene including updating new contact information
  • Meet assigned deadlines and report case issues to supervisor
  • Work closely in a team environment and effectively communicate with partners, attorneys, and legal support staff

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree required, LLM degree a plus
  • Fluent written and verbal communication in Chinese Mandarin and English to serve as the primary liaison between clients, attorneys, and other departments
  • Customer service, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with different personalities and temperaments
