Overview:

HGA is an award-winning architecture, engineering, and design firm with an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate, energetic, professional, and seeking to grow a career in business development (BD). This role reports to, and will work closely with, an Interior Design Principal in our Sacramento office and will also support a Marketing Principal in our Oakland office. Both Principals are heavy marketers, looking for a Business Development Coordinator who wants to advance as their practices grow. The Business Development Coordinator will join a collective of BDs within the firm who span our market sectors and the country; a great group of peers to learn from and collaborate with.

When we talk about business development, we are looking for someone who is driven to develop strong relationships that result in business opportunities – and uses their curiosity to develop an in-depth understanding of the firm and our clients to deepen our client engagement strategy. This role provides resources to build that business development acumen – we want someone who will grow with us, who will push us to give them new opportunities for advancement and additional responsibilities, with learning and development support along the way.

In this role you will:

  • work under the direction of Principals, and with other BDs;
  • research to track and qualify potential leads, including monitoring proposal/bid portals, client websites, and industry news;
  • conduct deeper research on specific targeted clients, opportunities, and selection committees as needed;
  • assist Principals and Marketing with the development of client engagement content used to help the firm win work such as Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs), including writing, editing, and proofreading;
  • coordinate conferences: track, register the booth/sponsorship, coordinate who is attending, plan events, and coordinate with Administrative Assistants regarding travel arrangements;
  • assist Principals and prepare for internal BD meetings, reports, presentations, and events;
  • understand and learn HGA’s portfolio of work, practice areas, and capabilities; and
  • conduct special projects as needed.

This role has the potential to grow and:

  • support BD efforts such as meetings, presentations, and industry events;
  • manage Customer Relationship Management (CRM) data in Vision/Vantagepoint;
  • run marketing budget reports; edit as needed; and
  • collaborate with our Marketing and Communications team to support BD strategy.

You will need to have:

  • BS/BA in marketing, communications, architecture or related field.
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience. Previous experience in sales, customer service, or marketing, with the ability to strengthen and further deepen their BD skills.
  • Interest in working with a dynamic, fast-paced team.
  • Self-motivation and drive to advance.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills adaptive to many personalities—be a team player.
  • Good graphic skills and can multi-task.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Products; Work, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Skills in Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint are helpful. If not proficient in CRM, a strong acumen to learn new technologies and software is a must.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a design-related field, preferably architecture, interior design, commercial real estate, or construction.
  • Curiosity about Interior Design and Corporate Developer markets, and desire to determine how our firm can position to help the needs of those clients.
