Purpose / Project Description:

The Business Development Coach will simultaneously provide business and financial consulting to HCC clients as well as identify, conduct outreach, and recruitment for a local directory to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) owned businesses in the Portland Metro area with a focus on Washington and Multnomah County.

• Consulting topic areas include: Financial Education, Business Education, Business Financial Documents, Business Development, Transition Planning, Credit Coaching, and Budgeting

Consultant Activities and Deliverables:

The Business Development Coach duties and responsibilities vary depending on the needs of the business and/or clients.

• Provide direct one-on-one coaching and technical assistance to small business owners and individuals, conduct needs assessments, and create actions plans for how their needs can be met. Coaching topics will include; business planning, transition planning, budgeting, credit consulting, and financial review.
• Consult and train each individual client on how to organize, plan and develop their goals in an operational and tangible way. Provide them with resources and educational support needed to help them carry out your recommendations.
• Record business successes and activities in client files; maintain and update client folders and data information.
• Identify, conduct outreach, and recruit local BIPOC businesses in the PNW region to join a local directory; with priority focus on Multnomah and Washington County.
• Attend networking and partnership events on behalf of Hayes Consulting and Coaching to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with other economic development and business assistance agencies and professionals.
• Various Hayes Consulting and Coaching business initiatives and projects

Timeframe / Schedule:

Business Development Coach will provide services for a minimum of nine (9) months for Hayes Consulting and Coaching. An option for contract extension will be available at the end of the nine (9) months.

Work Environment:

The core duties of this role can be performed remotely but there is an expectation to be in person for networking events, business recruitments, team retreats, and to meet with clients who prefer in person operations.

Please note that this position will begin with an average of 5-10 hours per week and include heavy outreach and recruitment work during the first half the role.

Required Experience & Skills:

• Personal Laptop, WIFI, and mobile phone will be required.
• Must be self-motivated; comfortable working independently.
• Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Have the ability to relate to small business owners, regardless of professions.
• Have a strong interest in microenterprise or economic development.
• Must have High school diploma and/or GED.
• Bi-lingual is a plus and strongly encouraged to apply

Job Type: Contract

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 10 per week
