Under the general direction of the Intake and Enterprise Applications Analysis Services Assistant Bureau Director, the IT Specialist III serves as a data specialist with a focus on maintaining the architectural integrity of enterprise data ensuring the stability and availability of data to the various enterprise systems and our business customers.
Working closely with FTB's information technology managers, architects, IT specialists, and business partners, the Principal Data Specialist will provide:

  • Strategic data leadership
  • Expert data analysis
  • Guidance in the design and availability of FTB's current and future data needs
  • Consultation to TSD technical staff in troubleshooting and resolving complex enterprise data service issues
The incumbent maintains in-depth knowledge and understanding of enterprise data integration development best practices. Responsible for proactive leadership and support of Analysis Bureau activities, creating deliverables that guide business models, people, processes, organizational changes, and IT investments toward achieving strategic business objectives and technology goals. Promotes an environment and atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation consistent with the department’s values among staff and managers. The incumbent promotes, establishes, and maintains relationships with representatives from across different divisions within the department. Engaging in continual education on industry technology and operational trends to help identify and guide complex projects and initiatives that will provide the greatest value to the department and to the citizens of California.
These efforts support FTB’s strategic goal of Operational Excellence by driving the optimal use of FTB’s information technology resources to ensure maximum efficiency. This position provides services which encompass multiple IT domains to include Software Engineering.

Working Conditions

This position is eligible for remote-working within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need. FTB has a minimum in-office requirement of two days per week for all positions including those that are eligible for telework.
