Position Summary
This position will be an Assistant Controller with a 4-person Finance team, which reports to the Controller of FPC but with primary responsibilities for the accounting for The Stewpot. The position also works closely with the Executive Director of The Stewpot and has potential for career growth with The Stewpot. 

Duties include working closely with the Controller of FPC, assisting in preparation of budgets, managing records, reconciling transactions, preparing statements of financial position, providing customer service to program and donor relationship staffs and FPC Finance office, helping analyze return on investment (ROI) for new projects and campaigns. 

Essential Functions

• Keep accurate financial records.
• Assists with monthly financial statement closing activities.
• Prepare statements of financial position (balance sheets).
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports. 
• Reconcile bank statements and gift processing. 
• Assist in preparation of the monthly statements and assist in Monthly and Quarterly reviews of financials for projections of revenue and expense and any course corrections for staff.
• Ability to work with finance team on Accounts Payable, General Ledger journal entries, reconciliations, cash management.
• Maintain shared filing systems for digital and physical documents. 
• Participate in annual financial audit. 
• Review and implement financial policies and best practices

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics or accounting; CPA a plus
• 7-8 years’ experience as a Staff Accountant or in a position of increasing responsibility in an accounting practice or office 
• Have sound understanding and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) 
• Analytical skills 
• Single audit and grant management experience 
• Double entry accounting experience 
• Ability to work successfully with teams and with people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures 
• Advanced MS Excel skills 
• Time management skills 
• Nonprofit accounting experience preferred but is not required.
• Familiarity with Sage Intacct, Bloomerang and Nexonia software preferred
