FHG Inc is Hiring a Business Development Manager Near Charlotte, NC

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

FHG Inc. is a faith-based construction company serving the energy industry. We possess expertise in general contracting and design-build services and have a history of providing quality and value to our customers. The company is structured with three operating divisions as follows:

Major Projects – Utilizing a General Contractor approach, this division is currently focused on serving the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) sector of the energy industry and is managing several large-scale projects across the country.

Tank – This division has experienced crews who self-perform new tank construction, tank alterations and major repairs, and maintenance services all over the country.

Pipe and Facilities – Experienced mechanical crews who self-perform terminal piping and pipeline facility related projects all over the country. Some examples of projects completed include new load rack construction/expansion, ethanol blending systems, butane blending systems, biodiesel systems, compressor and metering stations, and manifold installation and modifications.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Overview:

FHG Inc. is looking for a highly motivated and customer relationship-oriented individual to serve in the role of Business Development Manager (BDM). The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and prior business development experience in the industrial energy industry. This individual will focus on maintaining and expanding relationships with our existing customer base, developing relationships with new “A” customers, establishing a strong customer feedback loop to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, and identifying new markets the company can serve as the energy sector continues to transition. The BDM will serve as a key representative for the company and must therefore possess and demonstrate our core values. Key to success in the role, this individual will demonstrate the ability to be incredibly persistent while still maintaining trust and credibility with existing and prospective customers. Prior construction project management experience would also be beneficial in the role. The position will be based in our Charlotte, NC area office. Some overnight travel will be required to meet with existing and prospective customers, attend industry or customer events, and for occasional job site visits.

The following description has been designed to indicate the general nature and essential responsibilities of work performed in this position. It is not a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities, and qualifications required.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creating and executing the overall business development strategy and plan for the company. Partner with each division manager to develop division specific plans and drive the execution of those plans to achieve established revenue goals.
  • Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline; tracking bid opportunities; obtaining and collecting competitive information on the opportunities.
  • Analyze current business development processes/systems and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Research and help identify qualified target areas, projects and prospective “A” customers.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with existing customers while identifying and developing new customer opportunities in current markets.
  • Responsible to work with leadership team to identify new business opportunities (including new markets/industries) and help shape overall company direction so FHG can continue to advance its mission in the marketplace.
  • Lead the preparation and maintenance of marketing materials for business development meetings. Assist with website, PR, social media, and other as-needed marketing related items. Analyze current marketing materials and stay ahead in terms of what needs to be developed.
  • Attend/Participate in conferences, professional association meetings and exhibits promoting the company.
  • Solicit customer feedback to gain information on satisfaction with work and to identify any possible complaints. Assist operations team in finding solutions for any customer complaints to ensure strong customer relationships are maintained.
  • Report weekly progress of the pipeline and bid opportunities to the leadership team.
  • Lead weekly business development progress meetings with each division manager.
  • Exemplify company’s mission, core values and the code of ethics.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years successful business development experience in the industrial energy industry, preferably with some or all experience specifically focused on developing construction project opportunities.
  • Proven ability to develop long term strategic relationships at decision maker level. Existing contacts with end user firms in the oil and gas, and broader energy industry is a plus.
  • Prior customer service or customer account management experience is a plus.
  • Prior construction project management experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success selling in a B2B environment.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely convey technical, financial, and contractual information to all levels internally and externally, orally, via written word and through presentations.
  • Ability to understand complex procurement process and thrive/succeed in competitive environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong ability to influence and build relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to cold call potential customers with confidence.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Good organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines; detail oriented.

Schedule:
