This is a full-time position Monday – Friday, working a flexible schedule between the operating hours of 6:30am to 6:00pm (Ability to close 1 to 2 days per week). The pay is $16 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Employees are offered paid holidays, annual performance/retention bonus and professional development with tuition reimbursement opportunities. This position is onsite at our center located at 1108 Peachtree Street, Cocoa FL 32922.

This dual role as an Administrative Assistant & VPK Teacher plays a meaningful role in turning children's goals into reality and helping Britt Children’s Academy become the best it can be. You'll have the opportunity to utilize your natural interpersonal, administration and sales skills while bringing an enthusiastic energy to the staff and facility. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the center’s care. While the VPK Teacher coordinates engaging developmental activities, implements curriculum that prepares children for school, and enhances their pre-reading, pre-math, language, and social skills. The Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Teacher serves as a model and mentor. In this role you’ll have the opportunity to build a dynamic classroom environment, create fun-filled learning activities, and support the growth and success of children. 
 
What You’ll Do : 

• Manage adherence to quality standards in accordance with the center’s vision and state and local requirements. 
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment. 
• A strong understanding of child development and appropriate engagement strategies. 
• Prepare weekly report for the Senior Director outlining the details of your contacts, tours, and resulting enrollments 
• Collect information, assess applications, handle application documentation, enter data into files, make recommendations, and provide customer service to families as needed 
• Assist with administrative duties to include budget management, personnel record keeping, childcare management systems, and daily reporting and inspection. 
• Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards 
• Lead by example and encourage success through modeling and coaching 
• Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth 
• Maintain a personal and professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement 

What We Need from You: 

• High School Diploma and/or degree in early childhood education or related field of study 
• FL DCF 45 hours required and VPK Endorsements with a CDA preferably

• Minimum of 2 -3 years of professional early childhood education or experience 
• Must clear a full background check 
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, and basic computer skills 
• Strong understanding of children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where students are engaged and encouraged to succeed 
• Effective in communicating with both students and adults to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns 
• Demonstrate empathy and patience in difficult situations while being Cheerful, enthusiastic, and engaging in the workplace 
• CPR, First Aid, and Fire Extinguisher Certification completion within 30 days of employment
