ELSSA is Hiring an Assistant Preschool Director / VPK Teacher Near Orlando, FL

This is a Full-Time position scheduled Monday -Friday working 8:30am -5:30pm. The pay is $16 -18 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. This role is onsite at our center located: : 9367 Trevarthon Rd, Orlando FL, 32817

The Assistant Director plays a meaningful role in turning children's goals into reality and helping Next Steps Academy become the best it can be. You'll have the opportunity to utilize your natural interpersonal and sales skills while bringing an enthusiastic energy to the staff and facility. The Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the center’s care. While as a VPK Teacher you will coordinate engaging developmental activities, implements curriculum that prepares children for school, and enhances their pre-reading, pre-math, language, and social skills. The Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Teacher serves as a model and mentor. In this role you’ll have the opportunity to build a dynamic classroom environment, create fun-filled learning activities, and support the growth and success of children.

What You’ll Do: 

• Manage adherence to quality standards in accordance with both center’s vision and state and local / state requirements
• Lead by example and encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching 
• Plan individual and group age-appropriate exercises to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth 
• Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards 
• Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement 
• Work with staff, children, and parents to foster a team environment 
• Encourage children to develop a community-spirited classroom through sharing, caring and self-regulation
• Promote self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling
• Assist with administrative duties to include budget management, personnel record keeping, childcare management systems, and daily reporting and inspection.
​​​​​​• Manage adherence to quality standards in accordance with the center’s vision and state and local requirements.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
• A strong understanding of child development and appropriate engagement strategies. 
• Prepare weekly report for the Senior Director outlining the details of your contacts, tours, and resulting enrollments 
• Collect information, assess applications, handle application documentation, enter data into files, make recommendations, and provide customer service to families as needed 

What We Need from You: 

• Strong Customer Service, interpersonal and sales skills 
• Strong Technology skills 
• Cheerful, enthusiastic, and engaging in the workplace 
• Demonstrate empathy and patience in difficult situations 
• Associate degree in early childhood education or related field of study 
​​​​​​• FL DCF 45 hours with VPK Endorsement required and with a CDA
• FL Directors Credential

​​​​​​• Must clear a full DCF Level II background check 
• Minimum 1 year of direct professional experience in an early childhood setting 
• CPR, First Aid required and Fire Extinguisher Certification completion within 30 days of employment 
• Fluency in both English and Spanish preferred
