- Instrument persons operate instruments and data collections systems (total stations, levels, and other measuring devices) to acquire data for various types of surveys. They also assist or perform processing of field measurements and related data, limited equipment maintenance and maintain supplies for crew vehicles.
- The instrument person must know and be able to execute the duties of the rod person and should be capable to substitute for and perform the duties of the crew chief when absent.
- High School and/or specialized training from a vocational or technical school.
- Valid driver's license with approved/acceptable driving history required.
- Ability to travel
- Ability to carry and lift equipment as needed on the project.
- Ability to cut and/or clear brush while establishing survey lines. ( machete use)
- Knowledge of equipment and the ability to set up for various types for different work situations.
- Ability to hold and proficiently use all measuring devices.
