Job Description:

DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is HIRING, and we're searching for Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors (all levels) to join our group around the Castle Hayne, NC area. *While you'll be assigned to a home office, most of these positions will report directly to the field/project.

Job Requirements:

The Transportation Technician is responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.

Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Demonstrate and perform CEI standards.
  • A daily documentation of the contractor’s work efforts.
  • Daily completion of pay record entries. Project field book preparation and documentation.
  • Density logbook preparation and documentation.
  • Material sampling and testing.
  • Assisting with preparation of the Final Estimates package.
  • Measures distances to verify the accuracy of dimensions of construction activity/layout.
  • Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of construction activity/installations.
  • Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures ARE followed, and materials used conform to the specifications and/or contract requirements.
  • Obtains and prepares material samples for laboratory testing.
  • Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and accepts installation.
  • Records quantities of materials received or used during specified periods.
  • Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
  • Technician level is based on years of experience; Minimum 2 years of experience for a Transportation Technician I.
  • Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history required.
  • Complete the Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self-Study Course, and submit the mandatory Certification of Course Completion form (for structures projects).
  • Position requires a minimum of 40 hours a week with the possibility of overtime (Hourly).
  • Willingness and ability to be exposed to extreme weather conditions (Hot and Cold environments).
  • Ability to lift 50LBs on a regular basis to perform required tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • NO EXPERIENCE necessary to enter the Trainee Program. The trainee is required to complete the program in 24 months; Upon successful completion of the program, the trainee will be promoted into a Transportation Technician I. .

  • QMS Roadway Technician
  • ACI Concrete Technician
  • NCDOT Concrete Technician
  • ABC Sampling
  • Borrow Pit Sampling
  • Conventional Density
  • Erosion Control Level 2 Technician
  • Nuclear Density Technician

KSA’s:

  • Receives general instructions regarding assignments and is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems.
  • Assists Senior Inspectors and/or Project Administrator with completion of specific tasks and assists in all phases of the construction project.
  • Responsible for preparing backup documentation for progress and final estimates throughout the construction project duration.
  • that procedures ARE followed, and materials used conform to the specifications and/or contract requirements.
