We are seeking an experienced and creative Executive Chef to lead our back of house team and oversee all aspects of food preparation and presentation for our new restaurant in downtown Chicago! The successful candidate will be responsible for hiring & managing a team, creating menu items, sourcing ingredients, maintaining quality standards, cost tracking & reporting, and ensuring that all BOH operations are efficient and profitable.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop innovative and creative menu items that meet the needs of our clientele and are aligned with our brand image and concept
· Manage food and labor costs to ensure profitability, while maintaining high-quality standards
· Train and manage kitchen staff, ensuring that they follow food safety and sanitation standards, and are properly trained on all menu items and cooking techniques
· Source ingredients and manage inventory, ensuring that all ingredients are of the highest quality and are purchased at the best price
· Work with the General Manager/Owner to develop and manage budgets, and ensure that financial goals are met
· Oversee all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation
· Ensure that all dishes are prepared and served on time and meet quality standards
· Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers
· Create and maintain systems for kitchen organization and cleanliness, including proper storage and labeling of food items, and regular cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment
· Keep up to date with industry trends and culinary innovations, and incorporate them into menu items and kitchen operations
Qualifications:
· A degree or diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field or equivalent experience
· Minimum of 5 years of experience with at least 3 in an Executive Sous or higher role
· Excellent knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and food preparation
· Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of culinary professionals
· Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with kitchen staff, management, and vendors/suppliers
· Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
