Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation is Hiring an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I Near Sacramento, CA

Job Description and Duties

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for the position.
Most positions at CDCR Enterprise Information Services are eligible for telework. This position is primarily telework and may require in-person attendance when requested.
CDCR employees are encouraged to use their existing CDCR email address on their application.

  • The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process. HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application’s progress. Through their account portal, candidates will also be able to provide any additional information needed in the hiring process, including setting up interviews as needed. After the final filing date, applicants will receive an email from DoNotReply@cdcr.ns2cloud.com or DoNotReply@CDCR (depending on the email provider), with direction on creating and/or accessing their account.
  • For HRTS communication, this is in reference to Job Requisition (JR) 1019.
Under direction of the Information Technology Supervisor II (IT-Sup II), Enterprise Collaboration Unit (EC), the Information Technology Specialist I (ITSI) is the lead expert responsible for the department Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) system, specifically ServiceNow. Other responsibilities include supporting collaboration platforms such as: SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365 and the CDCR Internet website (WordPress).
ITSI is responsible for the management and support of all platforms listed above and future platforms added to the EC portfolio. The ITSI coordinates all upgrades/maintenance and communicates them to CDCRs Change Management Team. ITSI is expected to manage and contribute feature enhancements and promote the benefits to the department. The ITSI is responsible for any training that is a result of an upgrade or implementation.
The ITSI is responsible for leading and collaborating with internal staff and contract staff that provide expert support for the EC platforms mentioned above.

The main EIS location is in a park-like campus setting across from the Folsom Lake auto dealerships in Rancho Cordova, close to US Highway 50 and the Hazel light rail station. We are minutes from historic Sutter Street, the Folsom Premium Outlets, and many dining establishments.

Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by departmental annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).
