Crinetics Pharmaceuticals is Hiring a Remote Payroll Manager
Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing the payroll function. Their duties include management of payroll processes including timely and accurate completion of all employee pay as well as coordination of updates, changes, or onboarding needs in the company payroll system. The Payroll Manager will also be responsible for coordinating federal and state tax reporting, audits, managing filing and legal requirements, and ad-hoc reporting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain payroll records and files
- Manage timecards, time entry, and timekeeping software
- Multi-state payroll processing and management
- Coordination with international payroll processor
- Setup of new employees and states for payroll processing
- Management of earnings and payroll implications for stock plan activity, relocation, benefits, garnishments, and other taxable events
- Management of compliance with federal and state tax reporting
- Keep detailed records for taxes and audits
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding payroll, tax filings and reporting.
- Follow appropriate state and federal taxation of employer paid benefits.
- Develop financial and operational reports when requested by compiling summary data of earnings, state and federal taxes, deductions, PTO, disability, etc.
- Reconcile financial data and validate reports post confirmation
- Process year-end reports, including W-2, W-2c, etc.
- Upload and verify import files received from the HR and Finance departments into the financial database and/or payroll software when necessary
- Maintain employee confidentiality and protect payroll operations by keeping all private information confidential
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus
- 5 years multi-state payroll experience
- Experience in payroll software. Paycor experience a plus.
- In-depth understanding of payroll procedures, internal controls, audit trails and appropriate documentation, laws, and taxes
- Commitment to payroll best practices and adherence to regulations
- Precise attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills across functions
- Ability to organize, multitask, and prioritize in deadline-driven environment
Equipment: PC, scanners, voice mail and e-mail systems, and common office machines, or ability to be trained. Knowledge of other equipment required:

EFFORT REQUIRED/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. TRAVEL:
Travel may be required up to 5% of your time.
