CRF Behavioral Healthcare is Hiring a Payroll Supervisor Near San Diego, CA

Office Hours: Hours: 36 hours per week; Monday - Thursday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; Friday 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. May require additional hours. This is an exempt, salaried position.

Salary: $63,000 to $80,000 per year

Education:Bachelors degree in Accounting is preferred, but not required; minimum of 2 years of experience will be counted towards degree requirement with High School diploma/GED required

Experience:Three years direct supervision experience in Payroll required

Typical Duties of the Payroll Supervisor

We are seeking a working supervisor to direct and participate in accurately and timely processing of in-house payroll and monthly benefit payments. This position will work closely with our Payroll Manager and will be responsible for:

  • Recruiting, retaining, mentoring, and motivating a team of four
  • Supervising and monitoring payroll processing activities; review for accuracy, consistency, and reasonableness as well as ensuring adherence to funding agency contract requirements
  • Maintaining the payroll and electronic timekeeping systems
  • Following and establishing internal controls for safekeeping of payroll records
  • Conducting appropriate audits and reconciliations to ensure data integrity
  • Preparing and maintaining standard and ad hoc reports
  • Researching and resolving payroll and timesheet related issues, performing scheduled activities, and serve as liaison with program staff
  • Documenting and updating payroll/timesheet related procedures
  • Promoting professionalism, collaboration, and excellent customer service amongst staff

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Professional payroll certification preferred
  • Knowledge of wage and hour laws, payroll taxes and related accounting
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of payroll operations and processes, preferably with an in-house electronic timekeeping and payroll system
  • Proven success in leading a team to meet rigorous deadlines, following established processes, and ability to evaluate processes for inefficiencies
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer services skills, including a proven ability to tactfully collaborate on challenging issues
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably experience with Sage HRMS products and Crystal reporting
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work with confidential data in a professional manner
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Able to pass criminal/background clearance
