Cortica is Hiring a Payroll Specialist (FT) Near San Diego, CA

Cortica is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join its growing team! In this role, you will be a key member of the Finance team. This role presents an exciting opportunity in an innovative, high-growth company still in its early stages of development.

What will you do?
  • Process full-cycle payroll for assigned entities on a bi-weekly basis for an expanding workforce
  • Research and resolve payroll related questions and issues; explain payroll policies and procedures and provide outstanding customer service
  • Verify and process employee expense reimbursements
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for internal and external payroll tax related inquires and audits
  • Continuously drive improvements, automation, communication, and education to improve employee experience 
  • Assist with the implementation of new payroll systems or updating existing systems to meet business needs 
  • Upgrade process and procedures as company scales to integrate with latest technology 
We’d love to hear from you if:
  • You possess a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 
  • You bring 3 years of progressive payroll processing experience. 
  • You have experience with multi-state payroll and familiarity with new-state registration set-up and compliance.
  • You have solid working knowledge of UKG (implementation experience a plus!) and the aptitude to learn new systems.
  • You can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects. 
  • You demonstrate high level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.

The base pay range for this opening is $27.81 to $30.90 hourly. According to your skill level, relevant experience, education level, and location, you will receive compensation that fits appropriately within the range.
