Position Description: 

The barback is responsible for assisting bartenders and beverage manager in an expedient and efficient manner to ensure smooth operations. Responsible for organizing deliveries, preparing garnishes, restocking the bar to proper par levels before, during and after end of shift, maintaining cleanliness and organization of bar and prepped products. The barback, during service, is responsible for arranging placemats and dining set-up for guests, clearing between courses, bussing and cleaning the bar top. The barback is a true asset to the team by being proactive and anticipating the needs of the bartenders and our guests. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interacts with all customers in a professional, friendly, and hospitable manner.
• Knowledgeable of liquor classifications and proper storage.
• Mixes and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for customers of the bar and dining room adhering to house recipes to assist bartenders during high volume shifts. 
• Responsible for bar set up: garnishes, batched products, and well liquors.
• Responsible for cleanliness of the bar and proper product labeling. FIFO
• Demonstrate positive, interpersonal skills with guests and co-workers.
• Function as a supportive team member during the course of their shift.
• Position requires regular, reliable attendance.
• This is a tipped position meaning a barback has to follow the 80/20 rule. 80% of the shift should be spent at the bar, in guest facing roles. 20% of the time can be spent on projects that are non-guest facing.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write correspondences.
• Ability to effectively communicate and understand the predominant language of your guests.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
• Ability to problem solve.
• Regularly required to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
• The employee frequently is required to taste or smell.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

• Individuals must have effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to positively communicate.
• Reliable and predictable attendance is required.
• Experience with inventory management and receiving
• Experience in high volume environments

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school graduate or equivalent. Must have basic knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits, and be familiar with standard drink recipes. Must be 21 years old.
