Job Description

Coffman Engineers is looking for the right individual to lead the business development and marketing needs of our San Diego office. This is an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager with 15 years of experience who has a passion for business development, relationship building, and marketing to join our team.

The right candidate will focus on the San Diego office’s business development strategy by supporting the development of strategic client relationships. Work in this role includes various communications pieces as well as Business Development planning and strategy, project lead tracking, CRM and marketing database maintenance, presentation development, internal team coordination, event support, and more. Qualified candidates will have extensive experience creating and maintaining client relationships. This individual will have a sense of urgency and persistence, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to grow and maintain a network, and extensive knowledge and understanding of A/E/C and federal sector terminology and processes.

• Develop and implement proactive, strategic plans to target specific clients and market sectors throughout the San Diego region.
• Work with the companywide marketing team, engineers, various departments, and subconsultants to find and track potential project leads, assess prospective clients’ needs, and evaluate the competitive environment.
• Interface with clients to support new and existing client relationships.
• Research and lead strategic outreach to potential clients.
• Maintain up-to-date data in various locations including Coffman’s CRM, marketing database, backlog database, and more.
• Oversee and coordinate various internal and external events promoting Coffman within the community.
• Join and engage with appropriate architecture/engineering/construction (A/E/C) industry organizations.
• Support a variety of local and corporate marketing and Business Development initiatives.
• Mentorship of business development and marketing staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field required.
• Master’s degree in marketing or related field preferred.
• 15 years of professional A/E/C business development and marketing experience.
• 15 years of professional federal sector business development and marketing experience
• A solid understanding of A/E/C industry terminology, procedures, and how they align with business development and marketing principles.
• Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
• Must be a self-starter who is able to see the big picture and connect the vision of the company with their job, be persistent, and follow through in a consistent manner.
• Passionate about the client or pursuit and takes ownership of their work.
• Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external teams.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Dynamics 365, and Adobe Creative Suite software preferred. Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.
• Strong organizational ability, detail oriented, high degree of accuracy.
• Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.

Expected Annual Salary Range: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00.
