Clear Street is Hiring a Total Rewards Lead Near New York, NY

About Clear Street:

Clear Street is modernizing the brokerage ecosystem. Founded in 2018, Clear Street is a diversified financial services firm replacing the legacy infrastructure used across capital markets.

We started from scratch by building a completely cloud-native clearing and custody system designed for today’s complex, global market. Clear Street’s proprietary prime brokerage platform adds significant efficiency to the market, while focusing on minimizing risk, redundancy, and cost for clients. Our goal is to create a single source-of-truth platform for every asset class, in every country, and in any currency.

By combining highly-skilled product and engineering talent with seasoned finance professionals, we’re building the essentials to compete in today’s fast-paced markets.

The Team:

People Operations is a small team of highly motivated and collaborative individuals on a mission to create and evolve a world class HR function here at Clear Street. As a member of the team, you will continue to refine the HR ecosystem and processes that allow our most important asset, our people, to thrive. As Clear Street grows, our team is scaling the infrastructure that touches every aspect of the employee lifecycle.

The Role:

You will be responsible for various aspects of the People Operations function, with a focus on compensation, benefits administration, payroll, and HR data analysis and management. This includes operating and evolving these programs’ processes and policies, collaborating with internal cross-departmental groups on a regular basis, and serving as the first point of contact for employees with questions or issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommend changes as needed that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends, best practices, and our company’s objectives.
  • Work with our Chief People Officer to create compensation and benefits programs, including job levels, salary structures, and recognition programs.
  • Review existing policies and processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities to develop creative solutions.
  • Ensure successful execution of the year-end merit and bonus planning process
  • Participate in salary surveys and monitor the results to ensure that we are competitive in attracting and retaining talent, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and People Operations on compensation matters such as market pricing new and existing jobs.
  • Manage and administer all employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks.
  • Maintain a positive employee experience through all interactions with employees via email, Slack, phone, and in person discussions regarding any questions they have pertaining to our total rewards programs. (We sit in an open floor plan and employees do visit our desks frequently).
  • Process and manage payroll for our US and global employees.
  • Ensure HRIS data hygiene is kept current, accurate and readily available.
  • Generate reports and provide data analytics to support HR and management decisions.
  • Collaborate with groups across the organization, particularly Finance.
  • Work on other ad hoc projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in related HR roles, and at least 3 years of experience in compensation are required.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Experience with benefits is required, included knowledge of health and welfare benefit programs including healthcare, life, and wellbeing benefits.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, payroll software is preferred.
  • Intermediate excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, conditional formatting, charts and visualizations) and HR analytics are required, and experience utilizing Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau or Looker is a strong preference.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management, as well as having an ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A natural curiosity to inquire about existing processes and systems and a desire to learn and understand all of the background necessary to make informed decisions on change is required.
  • Certification in HR or a related field (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP).
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize for dealing with competing priorities.
  • Experience with international payroll is a plus.

We Offer:

The Base Salary Range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000. This range is representative of the starting base salaries for this role at Clear Street. Where a candidate falls in this range will be based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, and location. This range represents Base Salary only, which is just one element of Clear Street's total compensation. The range stated does not include other factors of total compensation such as bonuses or equity.

At Clear Street, we offer competitive compensation packages, company equity, 401k matching, gender-neutral parental leave, and full medical, dental and vision insurance. Our belief has always been that we are better as a business when we are all together in person. As such, beginning on January 2, 2023, we are requiring employees to be in the office 4 days per week. In-office benefits include lunch stipends, fully stocked kitchens, happy hours, a great location, and amazing views.

Our top priority is our people. We’re continuously investing in a culture that promotes collaboration. We help each other through challenges and celebrate each other's successes. We believe that modern workplaces succeed by virtue of having high-performance workforces that are diverse — in ideas, cultures, and experiences. We put in the effort to make such a workplace a daily reality and are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. #LI-Hybrid
