Position Title: Development Manager
Reports To: Development Director
Effective Date: 04/20/2021
Status: Full-time (40 hours) FLSA Status- Exempt
Division/Location: Administration/ Corporate
Primary Accountability:
The Development Manager is responsible for evaluating and developing marketing strategies, planning and coordinating marketing efforts, communicating the marketing plan and building awareness to position Community Health Partnership of Illinois’s (“CHP’s) brand. The Development Manager will work closely with CHP’s Purchasing Analysist to develop a pricing strategy that will help achieve economies of scale. The Development Manager will also be responsible for the marketing of all of CHP’s marketing needs including ; fundraising initiatives( major gifts programs, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns). The Development Manager will work closely with the Development Director and the Chief Executive Officer in all marketing, development and fund raising endeavors.

Primary Responsibilities:
1. Oversee CHP’s marketing needs inclusive of emergency marketing efforts to include COVID-19 efforts to strengthen awareness and to support patient retention and to attract and increase access to primary preventative health services
2. Evaluate and develop CHP’s marketing strategy and marketing plan inclusive of CHP’s website
3. Plan, direct, and coordinate marketing efforts
4. Communicate CHP’s marketing plan with staff
5. Research demand for CHP’s services
6. Perform competitor research to inform CHP’s marketing strategies
7. Collaborate with CHP’s Purchasing Analyst to develop pricing strategies to experience economies of scale while balancing customer satisfaction
8. Identify potential customer, clients and patients stakeholders through marketing efforts
9. Develop marketing and fundraising budgets working with the Finance Director including expenditures, research and development appropriations, return-on investment and profit-loss projections.
10. Develop and manage advertising campaigns and outreach events
11. Coordinate marketing projects from start to finish collaborating with the Development Director
12. Oversee social media marketing strategy and content marketing.
13. Develop and execute CHP’s nonprofit’s annual marketing fundraising plan
14. In collaboration with the Development Director, create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors
15. In collaboration with the Development Director support the marketing efforts to secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations, vendors and other grantors
16. In collaboration with the Development Director implement marketing efforts to grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors
17. Create and maintain a donor base spreadsheet while maintaining a list of all efforts, success with demographic information of all past and potential donors
18. Support the Development director on building the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies
19. Support the Development Director on the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives
20. Support marketing efforts on direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives
21. Support the Development Director on coordinating fund raising special events including employee fundraising drives
22. Support the Development Director on donor engagement utilizing best practices, ensuring appreciation letters are distributed in a timely manner
23. Oversee creation of publications to support fund raising activities
24. Leads marketing efforts for all CHP programs and collaborate with other staff not limited to outreach
25. Collaborate with Supervisor of Outreach and other CHP leaders on marketing efforts.
26. Demonstrate professional conduct at all times
27. Perform other related duties as requested

Requirements
Professional & Technical Knowledge:
1. Performance of the duties and responsibilities of the Position requires the equivalent of extensive formal experience in fundraising, including an understanding of the profession as it relates to the operations of the organization as acquired through the successful use of donor software
Technical Skills:
1. Position duties require an understanding of the profession at a level that allows the employee to select methods for others to use (from those already in existence in the profession).
Licenses & Certifications & Qualification:
1. Must embrace the mission of CHP
2. Strong interpersonal, writing and oral communication skills
3. Proven experience and knowledge in marketing and fundraising techniques, particularly targeted marketing campaigns and major gift fundraising
4. Proven experience in running marketing campaigns
5. Experience with digital marketing forms such as social media marketing and content marketing.
6. High competency in project and stakeholder management is a huge advantage
7. Effective time management skills, attention to detail and the ability to multitask
8. Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers
9. Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships
10. Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls
11. Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals
12. Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability
13. A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or communication preferred
14. 2-5 years minimum experience in professional fundraising.
Knowledge & Expertise:
Requires specific professional knowledge of fundraising in order to select proper methods to support success. Requires experience in directly managing programs.

Communication:
Role requires tactical resolution of conflicts brought to the attention by others. Requires the ability to communicate difficult messages that may require the audience to change their point of view. Requires the ability to communicate complex or technical information, tactical information and advocacy. Respectful, caring and empathetic person and enjoy working with and being around people.
Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office, including outlook, basic computer skills and professional level of written and spoken communication.
Scope of Authority and Impact of Performance:
Manages major segments within the organization, with an impact felt organization wide.
Work Environment and Physical Demands :
Typical office conditions, with occasional exposure to weather and local driving. The ability to sit for prolonged periods of time. Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds.
