Blistex is Hiring a Manager, Human Resources Near Brook, IL

JOB SUMMARY 

The Human Resources Manager has full authority to operate this function in accordance with Company policy, and objectives set by the Director, Human Resources & Organizational Development. This position will contribute towards our objective to establish Blistex as a top-tier workplace and to ensure a strong pipeline of talent into the organization. Management of Human Resources department functions will include some or all of the following: recruitment, staffing, employee relations, compensation programs, health care benefits, safety, Workers’ Compensation, HR technology, new hire orientation and Manager training. Ensure Company guidelines are met for State, Federal and Provincial compliance, and employment standards. Serve as a resource on HR related issues, including corporate policy interpretation, and legal compliance for Human Resources initiatives in the USA and Canada. Perform duties and provide services that reflect Blistex’s values. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

1. Administer Human Resources initiatives throughout all locations and departments. Function as lead for HR projects, periodic tasks, and management reporting. 

2. Participate in the planning, sourcing, recruiting, testing, qualifying, and screening of candidates for employment. Train and counsel Managers regarding staffing needs, staffing procedures, interviewing techniques, compensation and employment standards impacting recruitment practices. 

3. Analyze hiring metrics and develop plans to improve recruitment quality, cost, speed, and service. Cultivate external business relationships to maintain a strong talent pipeline. 

4. Develop and implement innovative and effective recruiting strategies and coordinates hiring activities (including advertising, screening, interviewing, and orientation). Ensure that qualified candidates are presented to Managers and sound hiring decisions are being made. 

5. Ensure that recruiting and hiring activities are in compliance with governmental regulations and Company policies and procedures. 

6. Maintain recruiter and college relationships. 

7. Proactively develop and maintain effective employee relations in a professional, consistent, and fair manner through a hands-on and collaborative approach. Provide guidance and counsel to the management team on employee relations and employee leave of absence matters. 

8. Ensure adherence to performance management processes across the business units, providing support and training on the process to Managers as required. 

9. Coordinate the preparation and distribution of Company-wide communications including the Intra- Company Newsletter. 

10. Ensure the Company maintains a positive presence on relevant social media websites to facilitate recruitment and to promote Company culture and a positive reputation. 

11. May be required to administer compensation plans and processes for employees, ensuring internal equity and external benchmarking. 

12. Provide input and facilitate ongoing training opportunities as required by the business units to improve employee productivity, performance, and job satisfaction. 

13. Schedule training sessions and ensures facility set-up, audio-visual set-up, and employee notification. 

14. Works with Managers and employees to ensure effective Employee Development Plans are in place and executed for appropriate employees. 

15. Conduct and coordinate new employee orientation and scheduling activities (excluding employment forms, benefits, etc.). 

16. Conduct exit interviews (excluding termination forms, benefits, etc.). 

17. Ensure training records are current in the Human Resources Management System. 

18. Maintain Learning Resource Library which is made up of books, CDs, and audio tapes. 

19. Research and provide suggestions for continuous improvement of processes and procedures through utilization of HR best practices. 

20. In conjunction with the Director, Human Resources & Organizational Development determines short and long-range strategies for the HR function and training and development programs. 

21. Strengthen the Human Resources function by contributing innovative ideas, expertise, knowledge, high professional standards, team spirit, and pride in the Company. 

22. Recommend and implements techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, minimize costs, and maintain state-of-the-art practices within the Company and HR function. 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Perform and assume other duties and responsibilities as may be required by the Director, Human Resources & Organizational Development. 

2. Support the Winner’s Circle, Blistex Quality System, and Blistex Strategic Plan. 

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Oversee, manage, and track employee performance. Function as a strong team-builder, coach, and mentor for staff working in a very collaborative environment. 

2. Create, nurture, and support a positive work environment that underscores the company’s core values and goals. Develop constructive solutions to employee relations issues. 

3. Include staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating, and process improvement; make self-available to staff; provide regular performance coaching; and develop subordinates’ skills and encourage growth. 

4. Define and implement a comprehensive program of staff development and career growth. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 

1. A 4-year college degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Psychology, or a related discipline; or equivalent in knowledge and experience is required. Master’s degree in Human Resources Management or MBA preferred. 

2. Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification preferred. 

3. Minimum 10 years HR Generalist experience with minimum 5 years in a supervisory and managerial capacity. 

4. Management skills to successfully perform the planning, reporting, and administrative responsibilities of this position. 

5. Interpersonal skills and diplomacy to effectively interact with all levels of the organization. 

6. Strong written and verbal communications skills including speaking in front of groups. 

7. Good creativity. 

8. Demonstrated strong leadership skills. 

9. Good judgment to maintain a high level of discretion when dealing with confidential issues/matters. 

10. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines on a multitude of concurrent tasks. 

11. Computer literacy in a Microsoft Windows environment. 

12. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability. 

13. Willingness to accept other duties, as assigned. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT 

1. This position requires the individual to stand or walk up to 33% of the time. This position requires the individual to sit, talk or hear, and use hands to finger, handle or feel 66% to 100% of the time. This position requires the individual to reach with hands and arms 33% to 66% of the time. 

2. This position will require the individual to lift up to 10 pounds 33% to 66% of the time. 

3. The vision requirements for this position includes close vision of 20 inches or less; distance vision of 20 feet or more, color vision (ability to distinguish between colors), peripheral vision (ability to see up, down, left, right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (3-dimensional vision), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus). 

4. This position has no exposer to measurable environmental hazards or conditions. 

5. The noise level for this position will be moderate noise (Ex: Business office, computer printers, and light foot traffic).
