JOB SUMMARY
Provides administrative support for the Director, Human Resources & Organizational Development, on personnel matters and assists with other projects and documentation. The primary duties include, but are not limited to, clerical support for the HR Department, preparing HR reports and assisting with the coordination of employee events. The HR Intern will be highly proficient with Microsoft Office products, such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
This internship is designed to be both educational and Real world practical. The HR Intern will learn how to take skills she/he may have acquired in school or apply them in a professional setting. The opportunity includes a wide range of projects (based on business need) related to HR compliance, recruiting, onboarding, employee benefits, employee surveys, training and development, record-keeping, social media administration, and other related requirements as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Bulletin boards administration for HR related postings and compliance notices.
2. Assist with administration of social media posting and tracking activity.
3. Provide administrative support for the HR Department for correspondence and reports.
4. Assists in the preparation of paperwork and/or data entry required to place employee on payroll.
5. Establishes personnel files, maintains personnel files (for active and terminated employees), and assists with processing exit paperwork.
6. Files documents into appropriate employee files and follows record retention procedures.
7. Assists with planning and coordination of Company-wide employee events.
8. Makes photocopies, faxes documents, and performs other clerical duties.
9. Participates in HR Department staff meetings.
10. Collates and mails various correspondence, as needed.
11. Additional Human Resource duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
1. Bachelor's degree candidate in Human Resources Management, Psychology, or related discipline.
2. Highly proficient with MSOffice software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
3. Knowledge of social media posting is a plus.
4. Ability to learn and navigate within a Human Resources Information System.
5. Must be discreet with confidential information to which he/she has access and comply with Company policies.
6. Ability to multi-task, work independently and prepare details and accurate documentation.
7. Good oral and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with co-workers and visitors.
8. Good written skills and detailed orientation including spelling, grammar, and punctuation to produce timely and accurate documents and reports.
9. Ability to learn and master general best practices within Human Resources Management, for example record retention guidelines.
10. Ability to analyze problems and select proper corrective action within specified practices.
11. Good organizational skills.
12. Ability and wiliness to accept projects as assigned.
13. Must possess the ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with internal and external customers, function as a team player, execute detailed instructions, and comply with Company policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT
1. This position requires the individual to stand or walk up to 33% of the time. This position requires the individual to sit, talk or hear, and use hands to finger, handle or feel 66% to 100% of the time. This position requires the individual to reach with hands and arms 33% to 66% of the time.
2. This position will require the individual to lift up to 10 pounds 33% to 66% of the time.
3. The vision requirements for this position includes close vision of 20 inches or less; distance vision of 20 feet or more, color vision (ability to distinguish between colors), peripheral vision (ability to see up, down, left, right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (3-dimensional vision), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
4. This position has no exposer to measurable environmental hazards or conditions.
5. The noise level for this position will be moderate noise (For example: Business office with computer keyboards and/or computer printers, light foot traffic).
