About this Role

As a Sales Manager of an Account Executive Team - Software Sales, you will lead your respective team in driving BerniePortal’s growth, working with them to generate and close new business opportunities. You will be responsible for overseeing pipelines and the team’s daily sales rhythms. This role is accountable for the full team’s prospecting, lead qualification, meetings set, meetings completed, and closed won performance metrics. Within your team, you will also have the benefit of sales development resources for business generation efforts. The ideal candidate is passionate about a SaaS sales career, has experience in the Insurtech/HRtech space, possesses excellent leadership skills, and has a strong drive to help your team close the next sale.

Compensation and Benefits

BerniePortal believes in compensating salespeople fairly and in proportion to the revenue that they generate.

  • Target OTE $200K
  • Full health and ancillary benefits, including HSA and Dependent Care FSA

What will you do in this role?

  • Assist your team in driving the entire sales lifecycle from prospecting to closing new broker and employer upgrade relationships

  • Recruit, train, coach, and manage the metrics for your AE and SDR team

  • Ensure that sales department metrics and quotas are met by holding daily stand-up meetings, weekly 1:1 meetings, and quarterly performance meetings with your SDR and AE team.

  • Become a product expert across our entire platform and understand the competitor landscape in order to support your team

  • The ability to grasp and teach complex solution sales messaging and convey it to your team

  • Partnering with Account Management and Client Success teams to ensure a smooth implementation for new clients from your team’s closed won deals.

  • Note: this role is in-office located at our Nashville headquarters or remote with industry-specific Ben Admin experience

Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in managing a sales team in the Insurtech or HRtech industry.

  • Personal experience in all facets of a complete sales cycle including hunting, developing, and closing new business.

  • Willingness to hunt for your team - your team will get some inbound leads and have a sales development resource, but we also expect a level of self-generation activity to drive your team’s overall pipeline

  • Must be comfortable challenging, confronting, and asking challenging questions to your team based on lost opportunities or quota attainment

  • Must teach the team to sell consultative-ly - not on price, product features, benefits, bells, or whistles.

  • Bonus: previous experience as a Sales Leader for Account Executives, preferably in the software-as-a-service (SaaS) industry to insurance brokers.
