Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies is Hiring a Recruiter Near San Diego, CA

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The Recruiter will serve as adviser and thought partner to departmental leaders, capitalizing on teachable moments while working together to develop recruiting strategies for current and future needs, improving vetting processes and driving continuous forward movement for top-quality placements. Reports to Director of Talent Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs full-cycle recruitment (sourcing, screening, interviewing, and closing) for multiple job requisitions, evaluating candidates for knowledge, experience, and ability to perform the role, culture fit, and alignment with core values.
  • Engages with Hiring Manager as a thought partner asking insightful questions to define current and future needs and identify target candidate profile. Establishes thoughtful, creative hiring plans and clearly communicates vetting expectations to the team, amending strategies appropriately throughout the processes as needed for maximum efficiency and outcome.
  • Works with Director to ensure job descriptions correctly define target profiles and salary parameters are in alignment with market trend and company vision. Creates and posts innovative, eye-catching alert which accurately showcases need, company branding, and captures target candidate pool. 
  • Ensures timely, thoughtful review of applicant submissions. Supplies swift, clear, brand-centric messaging to applicant as to candidacy status. Answers questions timely and thoroughly.
  • Is a Connector – emulates behavior in person and online needed for successful candidate placement. Demonstrates the importance of community/industry involvement to strengthen our brand and create opportunities to connect. Speaks the truth to business partners and perspective candidates, setting realistic expectations for all, and creating process efficiency (vetting process, communications, and initial onboarding). 
  • Possesses Marketing Chops – Focuses on target candidate profile and overall candidate experience. Collaborates with departmental leaders and Marketing Communications to develop and implement strategic campaigns to strengthen pipeline and brand visibility (social media, print advertising, job fairs/professional events, campus events, job boards). Provides quality, buzz-worthy ideas for internal talent outreach program (TOP) expanding internal interest and increasing quality referrals.
  • Ensures clear plan with Hiring Manager for communicating offer and consistency in additional follow through, including post-acceptance communications which continue candidate engagement and clarifies expectations through start date. Coordinates onboarding plan with HR Operations.
  • Is a Futurist – Continues to look forward in the industry and market for changes in trends in order to stay ahead of our competition. Strategizes with business partners and Director to refine profile, alter targets as appropriate, and reassess brand strategy.
  • Completes timely updates to Applicant Tracking System to properly reflect candidate progress throughout sourcing and vetting process, ensuring adherence to tracking guidelines. Supplies timely updates/metrics to Director and business partners as to job progress.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
WHAT YOU'D BRING TO THE ROLE
  • EDUCATION: Minimum of High School diploma or educational equivalency (GED) required; Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university strongly preferred. 
  • EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years of recruiting experience required. Insurance industry knowledge a plus; specifically, worker’s compensation.
  • CRITICAL THINKING: Ability to think critically and adapt quickly in a flexible and dynamic environment. Proactive, and inquisitive in approach to work. Ability to derive appropriate conclusions and apply on the job. 
  • LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to write and interpret business correspondence and reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions on an Executive level and with other interdepartmental leaders/partners. 
  • MATH AND REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 
  •  TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Demonstrated success in full-cycle technical recruiting (networking, sourcing, qualifying, screening, negotiating/closing, and relationship management) for all levels across multiple disciplines.
  • Understanding of compensation philosophies and management as it relates to hiring.
  • Experience working within Applicant Tracking Systems, including key metric analysis and report building. 
  • COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and able to quickly master applicable databases, systems and vendor software programs.
