Job Description:
We are seeking a Technical Application Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for answering questions from current and potential customers about our equipment and the way it works. This position requires a technical background in chemical/mechanical engineering or a similar field. The ideal candidate will be able to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise, as well as provide technical support to customers and the sales team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for all product lines and services by answering customer technical inquiries. Inquiries may be received via telephone, email or chat.
- Provide customer support on technical issues by using all available resources, and raising issues or problems when warranted.
- Participate in frequent training on products and continuing education on new applications and technologies to remain knowledgeable of groundbreaking scientific discoveries.
- Accurately record pertinent information from customer contacts in Customer Relationship Management system.
- Summarize trends and technology as technical tips, FAQ’s and troubleshooting guides.
- Recommend changes to knowledge databases, website, and other company-managed databases of technical information.
- Present technical updates to colleagues and contribute to department meetings.
- May present technical and product information at trade shows and in customer field visits.
- Work directly with the sales team to assist with technical questions about the analyzers, machines, units, test methods, etc.
- Troubleshoot and provide solutions to technical questions related to our analyzers and units for potential customers to assist in the sale of the units.
- Keep up to date with the latest industry changes and developments.
- Collaborate with other team members to deliver robust solutions to our customers.
- Help our customers understand the full potential of our products, ensuring they can effectively use our petroleum testing equipment.
- Assist in the design and delivery of training programs for customers.
- Provide any IT help within the office.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of the theoretical and practical application of engineering, science and technology
- A technical degree in a related field.
- Proven experience as a Technical Application Specialist or in a similar role.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and providing effective solutions.
- Outstanding communication skills to translate complex technical details into easy-to-understand language.
- Ability to stay updated with the latest developments in technologies and business requirements.
- Experience in customer service and/or an applied science area (i.e., Med Tech, clinical research, diagnostics, etc.) is desirable.
- Proven technical writing capabilities and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record to quickly learn large amounts of new, sophisticated technical information.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and problem solve.
- Digital literacy, including spreadsheet, database, word processing and Internet applications.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
