AARP is Hiring a Program Lead Near Baltimore, MD

Overview

Older Adults Technology Services from AARP (OATS) advocates for technology inclusion for the 50-plus, providing digital literacy training and programming to older adults. With nearly two decades of experience and insights on how older people interact with technology as well as its flagship programs like Senior Planet, OATS uses its resources to create world-class programs that form the basis for systems change.

Reporting to the Regional Program Manager, the Program lead works to build and enrich the daily life of Senior Planet participants in the assigned region through the implementation of fun and transformative experience for participants. The role will manage operational systems; schedule programs, classes, and special events; cultivate and manage relationships with partner organizations; and serve as an ambassador to other nonprofits that will co-produce outcomes with the seniors they serve in partnership with OATS and Senior Planet.

Responsibilities

CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO COMMUTE TO AND FROM MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD REGULARLY

  • Supports a business unit by regularly providing administrative-level support on a variety of projects, programs, and initiatives that are typically division-wide or enterprise-wide.
  • Creates presentations and facilitates meetings.
  • Analyzes and develops reports and provides recommendations. Tracks budgets and project/program activities.
  • Provides financial and budgeting support for a business unit or department and manages the execution of contracts and ensures compliance with contract requirements.
  • Identifies and implements procedures to avoid or minimize risk to the organization and prepares, consolidates, and reports on annual operating, salary, and capital budgets.
  • Serves as a liaison to management for monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements. Summarizes the financial status of the business unit or department. Identifies specific causes of significant variances in forecasting.
  • Provides professional administrative support directly to a manager and/or functional area, makes travel arrangements, and prepares travel expense reports forms.
  • Receives and responds to correspondence and maintains departmental records. Prepares budget reports/materials, ad-hoc reports, and vendor invoices. Schedules meetings for departmental staff and reserves conference rooms, catering, and technology.
Qualifications
  • Must reside in Maryland/DC metropolitan area- Commuting around Montgomery County, MD regularly
  • Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of program management experience, with at least 2 years in the non-profit industry/setting
  • Experience managing hybrid cross-functional teams working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong customer service orientation with an ability to work closely and collaboratively with partners from various sectors
  • Exhibit strong relationship management skills and display a dynamic and energetic approach to amplifying the mission and impact of OATS

Preferred:

  • MS Office, Salesforce, and Zoom

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits AARP offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including a 401(k); 100% company-funded pension plan; health, dental, and vision plans; life insurance; paid time off to include company and individual holidays, vacation, sick, caregiving, and parental leave; performance-based and peer-based recognition and tuition reimbursement. For this position, we anticipate offering a salary between $67,500.00 to $78,750.00 per year. This role is also eligible to participate in an annual incentive plan with a percentage up to 8%. Bonus eligibility is dependent upon organizational and individual performance.
