Occupational Training Center is Hiring a Registered Nurse Near Burlington, NJ

Reporting to the Day Program Supervisor, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides day-to-day medical support and on-going care to individuals with disabilities in the Community Access Centers and oversees all medical needs. Will perform all duties necessary to meet state approved objectives, including the requirement that employees cooperate with the licensee and Division staff in any inspection or investigation.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Coordinate daily ISP objectives for Participants with special needs and acuity Medicaid Tiers.
  • Completes orientation training for new staff members in the program
  • Treat all Participants with respect, dignity and compassion at all times.
  • Maintain and train all staff members on Participant’s diets and medications and medical needs.
  • Provide appropriate medical supports and on-going care for program Participants.
  • Develop recommendations as needed and communicate any and all consumer related concerns to the Day Program Supervisor and IDT members.
  • Facilitate and monitor all medical procedures associated with Participant care.
  • Assist Participants with toileting, feeding and other self-help activities in a caring and responsible manner.
  • Develop and contribute to ISP strategies for the Participants.
  • Carry out assigned activities with the Participants in the areas of physical care, recreational activities, self-help, social training, pre-vocational training, community inclusion and the development of functional and cognitive skills.
  • Responsible for calling 911 in life threatening situations in compliance with Danielle’s Law and follow all procedures in accordance with the Komninos’ Law.
  • Administer medications and maintain appropriate documentation for all program Participants. Change wound dressing and provide care and treatment as needed for all Participants.
  • Provides annual medication recertification trainings for all staff.
  • Complete daily Therap notes for assigned Participants, documenting progress on ISP objectives.
  • Transport consumers to and from their residence and various community outings. When driving individuals, staff member will ensure individuals and wheelchair equipment are properly secured in the vehicle. If another staff member secured individual(s), driver will double check wheel chair tie downs and seatbelts to ensure all passengers are properly secured in the vehicle prior to driving.
  • Will meet with other team members, Day Program Supervisors and Nurses from other Day Programs to coordinate care for all participants in the CAC programs to ensure the standard of care is being met across all programs. This will include reviewing medical records of all Participants in Programs who have LPNs instead of RNs.
  • Perform quarterly medical inspections in the OTC’s Residential Group Homes and report findings to the Coordinator of Residential Services. Monthly inspection of records is required for all Participants living in the home who have a medical acuity.
  • Willingly and effectively cooperates with OTC, The Department of Human Services, The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), and other licensing or state agency or local municipalities in any inspections and investigations, upon request
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Nursing.
  • Nursing registration and licensure in the state of New Jersey.
  • Minimum of Three (3) years nursing experience.
  • Experience working in the field of developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Valid driver license with acceptable driving record as set by OTC’s Insurance Carrier.
  • Duties include lifting and bending.
  • Ability to perform CPR and First Aid on ground level.

Necessary Special Requirements:

  • Employee should agree to have their name verified against the Central Registry of offenders against individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Employee shall submit to drug testing prior to employment and agree to submit to drug testing upon random selection and for cause.
  • Employee must complete an application to have their name checked against the child abuse registry (CARI checks).
