Occupational Training Center is Hiring a Fleet Mechanic Near Burlington, NJ

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Operations: Assists in the planning, organization and coordination of fleet operations.
  • Record Keeping: Manages and maintains accurate fleet records and reports. Maintains accurate records of all work performed. This includes work orders, inventory, and other relevant forms used in the department. Tracks scheduled and unscheduled maintenance repairs. Files records and reports appropriately.
  • Policies and Procedures: Assists in the development and implementation of fleet policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Vehicle Life Cycle: Coordinates the acquisition, replacement and disposition of fleet vehicles. Discusses such need with management immediately.
  • Utilization: Monitors and analyzes fleet utilization, maintenance and repair costs.
  • Scheduling: Assists in the coordination and scheduling of preventive and corrective maintenance for fleet vehicles.
  • Safety: Follows all safety procedures and protocols.
    • Supports the implementation of fleet safety programs and ensures compliance with relevant regulations.
    • Adheres to company work safety policies, ensuring a safe working environment by maintaining a clean garage and ensuring all equipment and tools are kept in a safe and usable condition.
    • Has a working knowledge of use and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Coordination of Required Documentation: Creates, submits, monitors and oversees Invoices, Vehicle Registrations, License Plates, Vehicle Accident Appraisals, etc.
  • Willingly and effectively cooperates with OTC, The Department of Human Services, The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), and other licensing or state agency or local municipalities in any inspections and investigations, upon request.

Maintenance Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and Diagnose: Accesses vehicles and accurately diagnoses operational problems and makes corrective actions on vans, buses and wheelchair lifts.
  • Equipment Monitoring and Ordering: Ensures test measurement and diagnostic equipment meets calibration requirements. Works in conjunction with Fleet Maintenance Manager to order parts and materials necessary for effective repair and maintenance work.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Performs both routine maintenance and specialized repairs. This can range from changing oil, replacing filters, rotating tires, checking fluid levels and replacing worn parts such as brake pads, wheel bearing and sensors to more complex tasks like repairing electrical systems or addressing engine malfunctions.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Provide routine inspections of vehicles to identify problematic areas including but not limited to exterior and interior lighting, wiper blades, tire tread, engine drive belt, air filter, spark plugs, fluid levels, leaks, battery testing, radiator hoses. Maintains and follows a preventative maintenance schedule for all vehicles.
  • Quality Standards: Perform repairs to manufacturer specifications. Addresses any vehicle recalls immediately. Corrects necessary faults to pass state inspection.
  • Communication: Communicates with drivers to discuss concerns and explain necessary repairs. Discuss costly repairs, vehicle damage and need for replacement vehicles with management BEFORE proceeding with further action.
  • Emergency Response: Available to handle emergency needs after regular hours. Performs road service and off-site maintenance. During road service calls must be prepared to assist with offloading and reloading special need clients and transport to their residence, if necessary.
