APS Payroll is Hiring a Benefits Specialist Near Shreveport, LA

Job Description

Summary: Responsible for technical and non-technical support to clients in an effort to facilitate their use of Benefits Administration.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Function as a primary point of contact during Implementation of new and existing benefit plans.
  • Provide training on the Benefits system for clients
  • Analyze clients’ benefit plans to ensure that existing systems, programs, policies, and procedures are in connection with clients’ setup within the APS system.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve benefit questions for clients.
  • Research and resolve client issues in a timely manner, drawing resources from internal departments when necessary.
  • Coordinate with clients to ensure a smooth open enrollment process by meeting client deadlines and expectations.
  • Provide support to Account Managers/Support by utilizing technical knowledge and knowledge of plan compliance and structure.
  • Responsible for setting up, maintaining and monitoring the exchange of client information with third party vendors. Current responsibilities include:
    • Configure client’s 401K data to facilitate the data transfer from APS to recordkeepers via a 3rd party. Works with internal and external stakeholders throughout the 401k integration implementation to effectively resolve 401K set up, data, and other file discrepancies.
    • Configure client’s company instance with vendor partners
  • Tests and troubleshoots configurations, and offers resolution.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, providers and third-party vendors to clarify client needs, third party and vendor requirements, and communicates throughout the implementation process to ensure a successful client launch.
  • Communicates to client, third party and partner vendors the status and ability to meet target dates
  • Drives various projects by using project management systems and problem-solving skills.
  • Responsible for also working on special and internal projects as assigned.
  • Provides weekly updates on implementation projects.
  • Other responsibilities as needed or assigned.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The list below is representative of the qualifications, skills, and abilities required and preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related fields preferred.
  • 3 years experience in benefits administration and/or human resources preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as FPC, PHR, SPHR, L&H preferred.
  • Working knowledge of COBRA and ACA.
  • Working knowledge of employee/employer benefit programs and benefits plan designs.
  • Knowledge of various types of carriers/vendors and their import/export/reporting requirements preferred.
  • Experience in payroll/benefits and systems support preferred.
  • Strong client centric focus.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills and attention to details.
  • Ability to work with people and work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work in an environment in which constant deadlines exist.
  • Must be able to work the hours necessary to successfully perform in this position.
  • Must understand all company guidelines, procedures, and workflow.
