Qdoba Restaurants and Modern Market Eatery is Hiring a Payroll Coordinator Near San Diego, CA

Schedule: 7:00AM to 1:00PM Monday Through Friday

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this team member is responsible for performing key payroll activities including resolving payroll issues, and providing customer service in response to payroll, labor, tax, policy, and procedure questions. This individual in this role should be able to work independently and to partner cross-functionally to support various payroll-related projects, reporting and ad-hoc analyses.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Fields call and e-mail inquiries from current and former company restaurant and corporate employees as well as external customers.
  • Researches and provides responses to inquiries including but not limited to payroll, vacation policies, prior period adjustments, W-2 issues, reissuance of payroll checks, direct deposits, employment verifications, missing hours, termination checks and other payroll-related matters.
  • Organizes, prioritizes, and follows through on pending issues, and ensures issues are sufficiently resolved in a timely manner.
  • Actively collaborates cross-functionally with human resources, benefits and HRIS team on maintaining employee data and coordinating processing timelines.
  • Produces and prepares reports for management, including ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and support of workers’ comp audits.
  • Performs various activities and prepares reports in support of the processing of payroll on a routine basis.
  • Identifies, communicates, and assists with the implementation of opportunities to improve business process efficiency, system optimization and payroll accuracy.?Ensures compliance to company payroll policies and procedures.
  • Supports various payroll-related special projects.
  • Sends standard letters to courts and government agencies in response to requests as required.
  • Conducts research and assists in collecting information requested by the INS or DOL.
  • Assists with all payroll functions including but not limited to direct deposits, pay cards, call center, garnishments and W-2s/W-4s.
  • Solicits and enters information into computer database.
  • Performs other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned, and directed.

Experience & Qualifications

  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent required.?Associate or bachelor’s degree a plus with some advanced accounting education preferred.?PC skills required.
  • 2 years of payroll, customer service and/or accounting experience
  • Experience with payroll processing and compliance for multi-unit organization across multiple states preferred.
  • Ultipro system experience a plus.
  • Excellent personal computer skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
